More than likely your going to need a console...If you checked all the power from the console down to the resistance motor and that's good then console is bad.

The Laptop charger is giving reverse polarity. Use the correct charger for that machine (whatever it is). 'make model (what it is) in every question, first 3 words please.
Do this for your console Elliptical:Removethe bolts or screws securing the console to the upright assembly. Lift theconsole and confirm that the cable connections are secure. Remove the coverfrom the console's battery bay and install a fresh set of batteries. Replacethe battery cover.2 Detachthe ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Remove the left and right discshields and side shields. Inspect the interior of the base unit and locate theflywheel.3 Inspectthe flywheel as it turns. Locate the magnet installed on the flywheel. Turn theflywheel until the magnet passes in front of the nearby reed switch. Loosen thescrew securing the switch in place. Rotate the switch to reduce the gap betweenit and the magnet. Tighten the screw.4 Replace the left and right disc shields and sideshields. Reattach the ends of the pedals to the crank axles
I think I am experiencing the same problem and have removed the shrouds. Are you experiencing a clicking sound while the unit is plugged in? All of this seems to deal with the servo motor. Don't be fooled by suggestions to replace the rpm sensor...this is NOT the problem. I am trying to find out what the initial setting for the servo motor and the tension cable should be. I found a site where you can order the servo motor, but it tells me that it could be months to receive this part. Sigh...
their maybe a loose connection between the upper display and function controls I would pull apart the upper display and check the connectors between the two boards
