My cool pix lr 22 turns on , the digital screen works but when I take a photo all I get is a blank screen

Press the button marked "evf". That should move the image to the big LCD for shooting.

Sounds like you have corrupted or possibly deleted a Fine Pix Viewer driver software file.

Suggest you uninstall and reinstall Fine Pix Viewer.

Before you start you might want to create a backup folder on your C drive and put copies of all your photo files therein. Make sure your camera is not connected to your PC before reinstalling software.

Assuming Windows operating system click : Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add or Remove Software, then scroll to Fine Pix applications. You will probably have three to choose from. Since you don't know where the problem lies suggest you start with Fine Pix Viewer which will probably have a version such as 5.5 (in my computer anyway). Having highlighted this file click on the uninstall button.

Now reinstall from your Fine Pix CD.

Suggest you reboot so new software will recognise your camera when it is connected. With camera connected Windows will probably advise that there is new hardware and it is seeking software. Give it time and Viewer should boot up on your screen.

This will always be displayed in your camera. However to choose what will imprint on the pix :

Turn your dial to SETUP and select DATE IMPRINT. Then select OFF (nothing will imprint on pix), or DATE (for just the date to be imprinted), or DATE and TIME (for both time and date to be imprinted)

Your ccd imager is defective . You need to replace the ccd imager .Thats why screen turned red .
Connect your camera to computer and try viewing the photos .
Or use card reader to transfer photos to computer .

Replacing ccd will cost you around $150 .

I would first try formatting the memory card, but remember when you do this it will erase all the images on your memory card so upload your images to your computer first. If this doesn't work I would try resetting the camera to its factory settings which can be done from the setup menu. I hope this helps!

A sudden jolt like that can damage the working parts of the lens, and or the internal connections. What can happen is that the small connectors can become unhooked and lose conductivity. If that happens, then you various controls or all controls will quit.
Because the screen is blank or black, it could also mean that the LCD is broken.

I have same problem and just tried the "reset all" function in the menu. Then I turned off the canera and when I turned it back on the screen worked. I hope this works for others!

It should turn off after 60 seconds of inactivity however the type or memory in the camera is called volatile memory and it requires a charge to store data. So even if the display is blank if you have pictures on the camera it will be pulling a charge from the battery. The best thing to do would be to download the pictures from the camera as soon as you can so that the pictures stored in the memory aren't pulling a charge from the battery.
