Windows 8 Laptop Computer won't recognize 5D dongle or 4D dongle.

Dongle works on my windows7 desk computer, but can't get my laptop with Windows8 to recognize my 5D or my 4D dongles. Think it has to be the driver for each, but don't know where to get the drivers for either. I have downloaded and run all updates from the Husqvarna site.

You probably need to install the XP drivers for the dongle. I don't have the exact website at my fingertips (brain tips?) right now, but if you visit Jan Henning's Sew Much 4 Retirement website I think she has it amongst her Tips section. I had a similar problem years ago, but solved it by putting the installation CD into the computer, not running the automatic Install, then opening the program. It then goes looking for the dongle driver on the CD. This solution does not work for everyone, some need to download the drivers off the internet.

take it to the dealer with your SN and receipt the dealer can get you a new dealer for about $100, but if you are not the original owner who registered the SN, it is a copyright violation and you are SOL

Try to install the software from the download as its latest version its will prompt you to remove the old version on your computer and follow onscreen instruction you be able to install the software...........

Those floppy drives that require a dongle are really no good. The USB floppy drives are the way to go. Just plug and play. Here is a link to the USB floppy drives if interested. They start at around $8.00. If you want to stick with the floppy with the dongle, you might want to try running windows update. I didn't see where you posted the maker of the floppy drive or the dongle so getting the drivers or software is pretty much impossible.

What can i do, my digitizer jr dongle is not recognized on my laptop?
Does the dongle attach to the serial port on the computer?

It may be that the software only recognizes a particular port (e/g: COM2:) and your PC's port is configured as COM1...or vice-versa.

I bought a new computer with Windows 8 & now my dongle is not recognized, why?
I tried the Husqvarna Viking dongle drivers for 4D VIP Customizing software on a new Windows 8.1 system, but nothing worked. (It worked fine on my old Vista system). After a few weeks of frustration, I found this site : http://www.safenet-inc.com/support_and_downloads/Download_Drivers/Sentinel_Drivers/.
I downloaded the Sentinel Driver v7.5.8 (they work for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/2008/2012/Vista & Windows 7&8 (32 bit and 64 bit)), installed it, restarted my computer, and everything worked like a charm.
Somebody should tell Husqvarna about those drivers...

I have purchased 5D Professional and cannot get the dongle installed, I have put the correct product activation code in and it has been recognised but will not accept that the dongle is inserted in my USB...
I purchased 5D pro and have the same problem. I contacted Viking and was told it was a known problem with no fix. I was instructed to take the dongle to my dealer to see if they can activate it.

Download and install the latest dongle drivers prior to installing the 4D Embroidery System. Failure to do this, may result in the "Dongle driver not found (E0009)" when you try to open the 4D modules.
Please follow the steps below to install the latest dongle drivers BEFORE installing the 4D Embroidery System
  1. Download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.
  2. Insert your 4D Dongle.
  3. Install your 4D Embroidery System software (and all updates).
  4. Open your 4D Embroidery System software to confirm that your dongle is working correctly.
If you installed the 4D Embroidery System software before installing the latest dongle drivers and if you experience problems such as the error message "Unable to start hasplms service..."; download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.

Viking #1+ 4d embroidery extra will not let us register.
if it won't recognize dongle, you have a computer issue.
For registration issues in 4D (In for Vista only), go to "user accounts" and turn off user account control (control panel) this helps registration issues from Vista
