The obvious problem is that whoever wired the trailer wiring may have made a mistake. A common one is to confuse a ground with a power lead. this will instantly fry the fuse and leave you without power to the circuit. Double check the wiring to see that it was done correctly. It may be a bad ground, however this would not normally affect the dash as it is independently grounded. Find the lead that provides 12v+ to the harness and then check to a known good ground. If you have the voltage, then change the VOM setting to ohms or continuity and meter between your black wire and the known good ground. Anything more than a couple of ohms and you need to re-establish the ground wire. There are many ground tabs throughout the harness...find them and remove the tag bolt (usually 10mm) and clean and re-affix. This will take care of most problems.
Push comes to shove, remove what they did and start over.

How do I test the fuse for the trailer running lights on a 2005 Titan.

The trailer light are connected to you vehicles wiring. Turn brake running. If the tail light are on on your vehicle you start checking wiring. If the tail lamps do not work check fuses in vehicle. If the trailer is hooked up and the fuse blows again check trailer. If it blows agin without trailer check vehicle wiring.

Where is the trailer light fuse

The answer to this question depends on several factors such as: Whether the towbar was a factory fitted unit fitted during
pre-delivery, a genuine brand unit or an aftermarket unit & who, where & when it was fitted...
The majority of towbars & the assosiated wiring out there are simply wired in to the rear tail light circuits such as:
  • Trailer stop lights wired to vehicle stop light circuit in eighther of the rear tail lights.
  • Trailer park lights wired to vehicle park light circuit same side as the stop lights, as above.
  • Trailer number plate lights wired to vehicle park light circuit same side, as above.
  • Trailer reverse lights (if fitted) wired to vehicle reverse light circuit same side, as above.
  • Trailer left hand indicator wired to vehicle left hand indicator light circuit
  • Trailer right hand indicator wired to vehicle right hand indicator light circuit.
This means that if fitted in this manner (as the majority are) the corrosponding vehicle light fuse will affect the trailer lights unless the is an inline fuse fitted to each single circuit (which cld be blown). This is very uncommon & wld be a costly way to do it...

In some more modern cars that came from the factory (not the dealership ie. pre-delivery) with the tow bar fitted as standard equipment it is possible that there cld be a sepparate little fuse box or section in the main fuse box (the position of the fuse box/es shld be in your owners manual usually Under the bonnet, under the dash or behind font foot kick panels, & if you dont have an owners manual for your vehicle they are usually available to buy an aftermarket version or these days on the internet & often downloadable for free or @ a small charge).

All the best & I hope this is of some help...

2001 3500 chevy duramax all running lights, tail and dash lights not coming on..

The wiring diagrams on 2000 and newer models are not easy to read sometimes, but it shows a 30amp park lamp fuse and a park lamp relay. The relay is controlled by the PCM. There is also a 10amp Int - Park fuse. I think the small fuse is inside the passenger compartment and the large fuse is in the engine compartment box.
You may have to get a shop manual to get the diagrams to be able to check each circuit.

Dash lights do not work, is it a fuse? And if so, wich one?

The dash lights and tail lights are usually on the same fuse, look for the tail light fuse. You may want check the wiring at the rear of the vehicle, especially trailer light wires. If your truck has one of those add in connectors for trailer lights, that you plug into the wire harness, you may want to take that apart. They sometimes get corroded and short out.

T100 tail lights & dash light keep blowing fuses

If this vehicle has a trailer harness, that could be the problem; it could be shorted out. Additionally, if there is no trailer harness, look under the truck bed at the rear, look for a grey wiring connector that wires come out of, and run to the taillamps. I have observed corrrosion in this connector, which will result in a short circuit. You may find it necessary to cut the connector out and resplice the wires back together (eliminate the connector), if severe corrosion is indeed present.
