Tanita BD-590 calibration

With 6 Lbs. of certified mass standards applied to platform, scale reads 5Lb. / 15 oz. With 20 Lbs. applied scale reads 19Lbs / 14.5 oz, etc.
Since the scale error is linear up to 40 pounds, it is clear the problem is calibration. Manufacturer refuses to provide the calibration sequence or procedures. My customer has 6 BD-590s and 2 of them have this condition. Since I have repaired & calibrated scales for over 30 years, I’ve always been able to calibrate my customer’s scales without having to return it to the factory.
Any information you can provide on the calibration of this model would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I have a Tanita Chinese Scale 570913. I don’t know how to use it and can’t read Chinese. It has five buttons the front side. When is it off button the others says 1 2 3 4. How can l set it? I weigh 84 lbs....

That is 886.258 pounds!! It is broken, throw it away. Or remove the batteries for 5 minutes. For your Chinese buttons, you can use a smartphone with the Google Translate app and use the Camera function to translate what the camera is seeing. It is very clever.

Or contact the USA department of Tanita and ask for a manual in English.

For the Health-o-meter physician's beam scale, how do you know when it is in balance? What should you do to get it in balance?

For any scale you need to have a known weight to calibrate the scale. Try using something like a 5lb bag of flour or 10lb bag of potatoes.

On the top of the scale set the scale to whatever known weight you have on the platform and see if it agrees, if it is just slightly off, then use the adjustment screw to fine tune the scale, it will be at the end of the left side of the arm.

CALIBRATING A TANITA KD-200-110 DIGITAL SCALE.

According to Tanita, you must send the scale back to the factory to adjust the calibration. As of September 2011 the cost is $125.00

This is more the scale costs.

Moral of the story. Don't buy Tanita.
