You could try putting the phone into recovery mode, then resetting the firmware through iTunes.
To enter recovery mode you must:
1) Open iTunes and connect your iPhone
2) Press and hold the home button and the sleep button at the same time.
3) After 10 seconds, release the sleep button but continue holding the home button
After following these steps, your iPhone should now be in recovery mode and ready to be restored using iTunes. Good luck!

Sometimes the
iPhone can lockup and stop working or just show the Apple symbol and
not do anything else. But panic not, normally an app has caused the
phone to crash and it needs to be restarted.
Here’s how you do it:
Sometimes just pressing and holding the home button for about 5 seconds, can help. But if not try this: Press and hold the iPhone’s
Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for several seconds, or until you
see the apple logo on the screen.

Open itunes. with your phone off hold home button and plug phone into computer and hold until itunes sees the phone. You can restore then. The phone will be in dfu mode. If that doesn't do it connect the phone hold home and power for 6 secs. then release the power button while holding the home until itunes sees phone. Restore and use your phone again...
if your battery got so low that it didn;t supply power to the phone, it probably relocked the iPhone. It sounds like you either having a low charge from the computer or you need to buy a good a/c charger and charge your phone with it and see if it comes back. But it's definitely battery related
