SOURCE: XP does'nt recognise Handycam

Hello Laura. You cannot transfer video from this camcorder with a USB cable. You will need a DV cable. This cable did not come with your camcorder. You will also need software for the transfer process. Windows Movie Maker can do this although I've never used it. I used a product called Scenalyzer. There is a free demo version at www.scenealyzer.com, but it will leave a watermark on your video if you don't pay for it. You might try Windows Movie Maker first if you already have it.

Once you have captured the video on your computer, you cannot just burn it to a DVD as a file if you want to play it in DVD players. This too requires special software.

I'm travelling for work right now, but when I get home in a few days I can be of more help. If you want to keep going on this, get a DV cable and see if you can capture the video with Windows Movie Maker and let me know.

SOURCE: sony digital handycam dcr-trv33: how to transfer video to computer

first you need a driver for your camcorder to recognize the device what you plug. use USB for pluging it. upload your videos to any movie maker application such as ulead movie maker, nero movie maker, windows movie maker, etc.. save it with any various types of videos like avi, divx, vcd, dvd, etc.. and now its on your computer. heres the link and other instructions of installations. hope that helps!

Does your camera having a docking station? If so, press the "burn to disc" button on the docking station, while the USB is connecting camera to computer.

How to transfer video from a sony handycam DCR-PC55E to a dell latitude e4310

The simplest way is via memory card, using a card reader. However, if you want to connect your handycam to your pc, you can download the manual here:

I have a sony handycam dcr-hc19e. I am trying to transfer to my laptop which only has a usb connector and i have updated software still wont work - any ideas?

If you computer has Windows Vista or Windows 7 installed, then streaming over USB is not supported on those operating systems.
It is only supported on Windows XP.
At any rate, the quality of the video when streamed over USB is of considerably lower quality when compared to the video when transferred of IEEE 1394 connection.
If you don't have Windows XP, you'll have to find a computer with an IEEE 1394 connector and buy a Sony DV to IEEE 1394 cable. The DV port on the camera is right next to the USB port. Consult your local Sony retailer to find the proper cable for your camera.

You need "Picture Package" software supplied with Sony camera to transfer video files in to PC. If you have software CD, please install it and connect your camrea with USB port.
If you dont have CD, check following Sony official weblink to download USB Driver, though it will not give you proper control on file transfer procedure yet it do help you to connect camera with PC.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
