I recently moved my freezer from my garage to my kitchen. I let it defrost and cleaned all the water out. After a few days i plugged it back in and it began to run and get cold, to the point where condensation on the inside started to freeze, but the outside walls of my chest freezer got extremely hot. What could cause this? Oh, by the way, I didnt see a fan anywhere on my freezer. Can anyone help?
This is a normal condition. The condensor coils are in the cabinet and their job is to remove heat which is why it is hot. You will want to make sure the freezer isn't in a tight spot where air from the room can't flow across it. Without good air flow it will become too hot and not cool properly and lead to the compressor failing too soon.
