what phone you have? for JAVA programs you need .jar or .jad file - most non-smartphone devices. If you have Symbian device then you need .sis or .sisx file, and for WinMo devices .CAB file is required.

Transfering ringtones to lg dare from pc

The best method I have found for transfer is to get a USB Bluetooth dongle. Make sure it is 2.0 compatible so that OBEX file transfer is supported.

Be careful with Bitpim, it can mess up your software if not used PERFECTLY, and it will void any warranty.

Memory usage

there is a simple program for that just google OBEX INBOX u will find it on xda forums download it install the cab file and set the folder for recieving files to storage card and go !!!!

Motorola v3

OBEX file transfer works if you have bluetooth. If not use BitPim or P2K commander or Motorola Phone tools with the drivers from here:

Blueetooth help on my phone

iphone dosnt support OBEX.
obex is the method for file transfer. it only supports handsfree headsets. there is no method for file transfer via bluetooth, u wanna go for app "dropcopy" this is for file transfer b/w 2 iphones.

To connect your phone via USB to computer and access your phone's memory card:



On your phone:
  1. Press the Center Select Key
  2. Scroll to and Select Settings
  3. Scroll to and Select Connection
  4. Scroll to and Select USB Settings
  5. Scroll to and Select Default Connection
  6. Scroll to and Select Memory Card
    This directs the USB connection to your memory card. Attach the Motorola Original USB cable to the accessory port on your phone and to an available USB port on your computer.
question.gif How do I use my own ring tones on my phone?
space.gif space.gif answer.gif To put ring tones on your phone using Motorola Phone Tools 4.36c and higher:
  1. Start Motorola Phone Tools.
  2. Choose your phone's profile or create a new profile.
  3. Click OK to wait for a picture of your phone to appear or for your phone to be setup for the first time.
  4. Once the image of your phone appears in the lower right of your computer screen select Multimedia Studio.
  5. On the screen that pops up select Melody Studio.
  6. Select a tab at the top of the screen to find a source for a ring tone. (Samples, My Melodies, My PC, My CD, My Phone).
  7. Select an audio phone you wish to transfer or edit.
  8. Edit the file to your taste or simply choose Transfer to phone.
  9. The file will be put in your ringtone folder.
To transfer music to your phone via Bluetooth(The computer must have a Bluetooth Profile that supports OBEX File Transfer ):
Note: The steps you may need to use to transfer music via Bluetooth may differ from the steps used below. A PC and a Motorola PC850 Bluetooth Adapter were used in the steps seen below.
  1. On your computer
    1. Go to My Bluetooth Places
    2. On your phone
      1. Push Menu
      2. Scroll to and Select Bluetooth
      3. Scroll to and Select Setup
      4. Turn Bluetooth Power On
      5. Push Back (right softkey)
      6. Scroll to and Select Find Me
      7. Press Back several times to return to the home screen
    3. Double click Find Bluetooth Devices
    4. Let your computer search and find your device
    5. Double Click on Motorola Phone (Phone's default name is "Motorola Phone" unless you have renamed it in Bluetooth>Setup>Name
    6. Double Click on OBEX File Transfer on Motorola Phone
    7. Computer will be prompted to enter a Passkey
    8. Enter 0000 on your computer and press OK
    9. Phone will ask if you want to Bond with your computer. Select Yes or No
    10. Phone will then prompt you to enter the 0000 Passkey then press OK
    11. Phone will then prompt to Grant or Deny OBEX File Transfer
    12. Double click on audio Folder
    13. Phone will then prompt to Grant or Deny OBEX File Transfer
    14. Computer will now display a conversations and voicerecords folder. Copy and paste or Drag and Drop your m4a (AAC) or MP3 ring tones to the audio folder and NOT into the conversations or voicerecords Folders.
    15. Phone will then prompt to Grant or Deny OBEX File Transfer to complete the transfer
Note: By putting ring tones on your phone using Bluetooth or Motorola phone tools, you may not be able to remove the ringtone from your phone. Motorola is aware of this and in the future removing the user added ringtones
