SOURCE: Unable to get sound when connecting DVD player to TV

connect one end of white cable to dvd/vcr audio output and the other end of white cable to tv audio input L .
connect one end of yellow cable to video output on dvd/vcr and the other end of yellow cable to video input jack on tv

If you connect like this after checking you connections this should fix problem.

Connections

I believe that you simply need a splitter from your cable line from the wall to the items that need it.

That will give you input to the DVD-R and to the Cable box.

Let me know if we need to discuss further, I will be glad to help!

How to get audio on Phillips blu ray

If playing direct in to the TV, make sure the player's audio menu is set to "mixdown to PCM" or just PCM rather than Bitstream. The reason is that most Blu-rays contain audio in DTS format. But very few TVs can handle the raw Bitstreams DTS data feed. Let the player do the conversion to an audio format that the TV understands. PCM is pretty universal. It'll be just stereo, but that's okay because your TV probably can't do much more than that anyway.

I just bought a Philips Smart WiFi Bluray Player BDP2105F7 and I cannot connect it to my old tv which is a sony triniton, I have image but no sound. There are two outputs on the dvd player but I have...

Your white red yellow cord is a Stereo sound + video cord. The red and the white ends are for sound the yellow end is for video - if your TV is not stereo it may not have the red and white it may only have one in which case you need to find an adapter from stereo to Mono to fit your red/white cable ends into a single connection on the TV. Or you can buy a home theater sound system and it will give the TV its signal and it will keep the stereo signal and broadcast it through the sound system.
