The battery is probably dead. Every battery has something known as recharge-cycle limit(number of times it can charge and discharge). Replacing the battery will most likely resolve this issue as the screen turning on when connected to an external power supply indicates that there is nothing wrong with the charging port.
my lg's camera started to turn my phone off, i do tech work for a wireless company and when i was trouble shooting my own phone as a test i went to my camera and my screen went blank! i tryed every thing, but the master reset. because my screen is blank i need to know the number i will have to enter to get it reset from the key pad.
Did you put the battery back on the phone? LOL Charge the phone if it does not power up take it to verizon. Note the model number and age of the phone. The refurbished phone they give you will be older the the one you have. May be a first gen 8550 and you would do better upgrading to a phone that is not named after your favorite snack food. Think about it would you buy a phone that was aptly called chicken bone or summer sausage? Just imagine the grease from the chicken all over your ear? That's all the Chocolate is good for... imagining useless art.
hav your phone serviced. that has an issue internal. they might have to replace some chips for that. youve checked the battery and still does the same thing.
