Try spraying tuner cleaner down beside the button. Be sure you get a good turner cleaner like Chemtronics. If that doesn't work you will have to disassemble the remote and check the membrane under the buttons. If the button is used a lot it may be torn or wore out.

My Samsung PN50C450B1D plasma TV doesn't respond when touching the Menu, Volume or Channel buttons on the TV itself.

Chances are you have a stuck button on the button cluster, what I'd do is remove the connector going to it and use the remote control, with a stuck button the remote won't function properly.

My Samsung AH59-02402A remote for blue ray home theater system won't work. The BD/receiver button stays lit up

If the BD/receiver button on your Samsung AH59-02402A remote is continuously lit up and the remote isn't working, it may indicate that the remote is stuck in the wrong mode. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:
  1. Check the batteries: Replace the batteries in the remote and ensure they are inserted correctly.
  2. Reset the remote: Remove the batteries from the remote and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the batteries and try using the remote again.
  3. Check the mode button: Make sure that the mode button (e.g., BD/receiver, TV, cable) is not stuck. Press each mode button a few times to see if it's responsive.
  4. Re-sync the remote: If your remote is designed to control multiple devices, such as a TV and a home theater system, try re-syncing it with your device. Consult the user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  5. Try a universal remote: If none of the above steps work, you can try using a universal remote that's compatible with your home theater system.
If none of these steps work, it's possible that your remote is faulty and needs to be replaced. Contact Samsung customer support for further assistance.

How to program remote

is there a menu button?
sometimes the setup is buried under another button so I would call the cable company and ask.
there is a remote code for your model tv that has to be input.

Is there a fee to answer this question: How do I cancel closed captioning with the Samsung BN59-00678A? Thank you.

If pressing the cc button on the remote is not working (you might have to press it multiple times in succession) then your cable box/satellite receiver is where the captions are coming from. You have to disable them with the cable box/satellite receiver remote or on the box/receiver itself. There is usually a hidden menu accessed after turning off the cable box and pressing the menu button on it. If you have a satellite receiver and not a cable box there is usually a yellow button to press to add/remove subtitles.

I am trying to program my Vizio Universal Remote XRU9M With my comcast cable box and none of the codes in the manual are working. We tried doing the 9-9-1 thing for the vizio remote which is a little...

Hello, Twomufflers -

Doesn't Comcast provide you with a remote to use for the cable box?

We have AT&T Uverse as our cable provider and have an AT&T remote control for each of our cable boxes.

One of our TVs is a Vizio and we only use the Vizio remote control when we need to change something through the TV menu - like when we change from HDMI input (for cable programs) to AV input to watch a DVD.

Samsung 40 hd tv the vol will not come down from 100 percent . I try to turn the vol down and it will not turn down. what can I do. tks mike

I presume that the volume will not turn down from either the remote control or the volume buttons on the side of the tv. If the volume down button works on the side of the tv then the remote control is suspect to be faulty. If neither remote or tv volume buttons work then check whether the channel buttons work on the tv (not remote). If none of these work then check the input connection from the buttons /infra red reciver to the main pcb. This is a push on cable connector. As a point, also check that the volume up button on the tv is not stuck in, and feels the same as the other buttons when pressed.

My harmony is stuck in safe mode

I had the same issue this morning so my apologies for the delay in answering you. After numerous delays and frustrations in being unable to "update" my remote i did the following. First, remove all batteries and disconnect remote from the USB cable. Check ALL buttons to ensure that none are stuck in the down position. I found that my SELECT/OK button was stuck in the "on" position. Continue to check all buttons to make sure all test fine. After doing this hold down the "Off" button while connecting the USB cable, still no batteries in the unit at this time. Hold the "Off" button down for at least 10 seconds or until the units Testing is completed. If the Harmony remote software is up, perform the Update Remote step still sans batteries. After it completes it may perform a self test again (mine did) and after it completes then insert the batteries back into the unit. Hope this helps.
