NO memory card Problem - Powershot 550

Mine is a CANON powershot 550. 2years old. was working in a very good condition before few days. BUT now Am getting a error like "no memory card". i get it often while using my camera. sometimes it disappears by itself. i have tried removing the internal battery, tried lot of memory cards, tried all kinds of formats. all memory card work fine in card readers. left the camera with out batteries for more than 48hours. but no effect. once the error shows up, it does not accept any card. it just keeps showing the error. sometimes after showing the error it shuts off, and sometimes it remains ON. i doubt if some kind of disturbing plastic is stuck behind the contacts in the memory card receptor in the camera. but wanted to know if there is any FIX with out disassembling the camera.

More likely one of the spring contacts in the camera that connect to the SD card has become weak causing the problem.

SOURCE: Memory card error - can't format card

If it is an SDHC card your camera is too old to support it.  You need to get an older-style SD card.

Why does my new PowerShot SD 1200 IS say I have no memory when I just inserted a new memory card in it? I followed the directions.

Same problem here but i solved it on my own.
When i try my memory card into my bestfriend's camera, it works. Now the problem is on my Camera.
The question is. How old is your Camera?
Mine is just two days ago after i purchased it, so i used the warranty period.

Thanks

"cannon powershot sd870 wont turn on when memory

Please check the memory card with your PC and check if there are any corrupt files within. If so remvoe and format the card , Also so a virus scan and confirm that the Sd card is clean.
Now insert and check. If however the card is found in good condition in the first place then there are errors in the interface to the processor in the camera which might need a technical help from the Canon-service center.

The camera will not turn on.

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Canon powershot SD1200 IS says Memory Card Error

You probably just need to format the card in the camera. This will completely erase it so download any pictures you want to save first.

Canon camera won't accept SD memory card

It's a good bet that anything 4GB or greater is a SDHC card (look on the card, see if SDHC is written there). Your A530 was designed before the new SDHC format came out. Sorry, but your camera will not recognize this type of card. Recommend instead that you get a 2GB standard SD card. They're relatively inexpensive these days.

Memory card error

Canon will fix this for you for free. It's an inherent fault with the S400. It has a little internal button battery that causes the problem as it gets old and run down. Check this website for more info. Look for the bright/bold yellow post describing how to return to Canon.

Good Luck!

I just repaired my Canon G2 with the same symptom.  The internal PCB that you plug the external AC adapter is defective.  The numbers on the board are:
