You sound like you've broken your belt! If the roller gets stuck the pulley that rotates the belt will have burnt a hole in your belt and broken it. You'll need to contact your local Dyson to obtain parts,

SOURCE: Dyson Animal DC17 motor won't stay on

You will need to have the button replaced. Dyson power buttons are notorious for breaking because just a gentle push is all that is required and they can break if they have been pushed down roughly.

SOURCE: My Dyson Absolute has started making a loud noise

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Try making sure the brush bar is turning when in the vacuuming position. It is possible that the brush bar is obstructed which can cause your machine to make this noise.

Keeps stopping even though I have taken it apart and checked for blockages. +

Are you sure your wall charger is working ok? You might just have a bad battery pack in the sweeper if your charger is working. Do you have a friend who knows electronics and has a voltmeter?

If so, have them check the voltage output of the charger at the plug that goes into the sweeper. Verify that the charger is indeed working ok. Then you will need to check the voltage on the battery pack inside the sweeper to see if your battery is good and holding a charge. A mechanical blockage could be something caught in the vacuum fan blade. You should be able to hold the main part of the sweeper up to your ear so you can hear and then pull the sweeper trigger and see if you can hear the motor try to start. Nothing happening may mean a dead battery pack. Regards, Dennis

    Is charger not working?

If you have a DC voltmeter and can see the contacts in the charger, you may be able to see it the charger has a output. But with the newer electronics for battery charging, the battery may need to be in the charger to get a reading. My guess is you do have a bad charger.

Green light comes on when I try to use it

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC44 won't run when you hold the trigger down, but displays a solid green light, this indicates that the battery is out of power. If this continues after you've connected the machine to the charger cord for at least 5.5 hours to recharge fully, it suggests that there could be a fault with the charger, battery or main body.

When you have your DC44 to hand I would encourage to you call the Dyson Customer Helpline so our experts can talk you through some simple diagnostic checks. Once we're clear which part is affected, we can confirm if a replacement is covered under your Dyson warranty.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Do you keep the Dyson DC44 plugged into charger all the time?

I don't keep mine plugged in, but that's because I haven't mounted the charger on the wall. I think rechargeable batteries are smart enough nowadays to allow for an appliance to be constantly plugged in.

Green light on DC44 but nothing is happening

Hi Emma, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC44 Animal doesn't seem to be working correctly. If the green LED indicator on the machine lights up, but the machine itself doesn't run, this suggests the battery is flat. It could mean that it's not recharging correctly when connected to the docking station.

It would be worth temporarily disconnecting and removing the charger cord from the docking station and plugging it directly into the machine - the machine should recharge fully within 3.5 hours. If the machine then works as normal the charger cord may not have been corrected fitted to the docking station.

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

DC 44 animal wont charge. Charge light comes on then off after about 30 seconds.

Hi Darren, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty recharging your DC44 Animal. It should charge from flat within 5.5 hours when connected to the charger assembly, or placed in the docking station, as shown in the video above.

The charge light will turn off once the battery is fully charged. If it seems to be shutting off prematurely, we would need to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have the machine to hand. This will help us confirm what may be needed to resolve the issue.

Please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA), to speak directly with our team of experts.
