The phone only makes emergency calls because it is not being associated with your account info. Contact your provider, to connect the phone to your account.

Emergency calls only is a symptom where a cellphone loses its registration to a valid network operator. It usually happens to me when I am in another country and the cellphone cannot locate valid operators. Looks like some telcos choose particular network partners. What I do is choose the network operator manually in the phone's setting.
If you are in your home country and this happens, it only tells you that you are out of coverage area and the phone is losing connection to your network operator. Maybe you are inside a building with thick walls which cause poor reception. You may try choosng an area where the symptom goes out.
Emergency calls only usually means the company has cut off your service, usually for non-payment. If it was another problem, like no signal, you wouldn't be able to even make emergency calls. Call your provider.
This means you're either out of signal or you've been cut off by your operator. Sometimes when your phone has no signal it can link with passing satellites, and by law, they have to allow you to use their transceiver but only for Emergency Services (999). This is why you have that message. OR You have been cut off and can only use the phone in case of emergency, call your operator and find out which one it is! :)
You're right - the fact that the phone will perform emergency calling means that the cell phone is operable as a phone - but the phone thinks that its a phone without a EIN, since its not reading its SIM card. Its therefore, not registering into you cellular provider's network as you (your EIN), but as a "generic" phone - which are given access to cellular networks for just one function - 911 calls.
it may be that the sim card is not functional in your country OR that the phone is blocked from making calls. If its the first, just getting a local sim card should cure it. If it's the latter you'll need to phone the operator to unbar it.
hello sir, this emergency calls only is seen only when ur SIM is not activated or ur cell phone dosent catches the signal. Well it shows the signal full but thats the FAKE signal. If ur SIM is activated try the MOBILE NETWORKS in the SETTINGS option > Connectivity U will search for new networks and u will find ur NETWORK Operator
If ur SIM is invalid u wil continue receving the same message "emergency calls only"
