Older phones sometimes have a different voltage for their headphone jack and need an adaptor or a particular kind of headphones. You need one of these.

Speaker no sound

Restart the computer, plug in and unplug some headphones as the AC'97 has a silly little "remember what volume the headphones were at" feature. Go into the sound mixer (start > run > sndvol32) click options > select advanced controls. If a button exists under the "Master Volume" channel inthe mixer, click it and make sure nothing that would turn off the built-in speakers is checked.

Hi i have a htc hero on the 3uk network running 2.1 i got it a little wet yesterday and today it thinks the headphones are plugged in? i can now only make calls my plugging the head phones in ? i know its...

Turn OFF THE PHONE first then try dipping the tip of your headphone jack in rubbing alcohol not good whiskey (lol). insert it repeatedly into the hole. blow into the hole to help it dry faster. See if that works. Keep trying till it works or you get tired of trying. This should clean the contacts inside but won't help if the circuit board has been shorted.

IPhone 3GS: suddenly music only on the left

hi. i can help you. begin by cleaning out the little hole your ear buds plug into. Carefully clean the jack hole with a needle or a tough pick. It allowed me to remove a lot of cotton like dust. if that doesnt solve it go into your phone menu under audio settings and see if you have adjusted the balance to cause your problem.
also, You can try removing any debris that might be in the headphone jack by plugging and unplugging the headphones a few times.
If the issue is not caused by debris in the headphone jack, request repair/replacement of the Apple Earphones with Mic online here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

You can also request service by making a reservation with a Genius here: http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/or call AppleCare U.S. iPhone technical support at: 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466)

Sound problems

Have you tried using a differant set of Headphones? If you still have the same problem with using other headphones, then it seems like there's a poor connection on the sound card from the headphone in input to the board. If your sound card works fine through normal speakers, then that's more then likely your problem.
The cheapest solution would be to replace the sound card rather then have it repaired, as it would probably cost you more to have it repaired then what it would be to buy one depending on what quality of sound your happy to listen to.

No sound through speaker or headphone

double check the speakers connection. Make sure you plug it in the right hole.
