Need to wire a silver salute cb mic to a cobra 142 gtl what color wire goes to what pin on the mic plug thank
Dont go by colors.. go by what wires are on the switch and mic element.. mics can be rewired and no one told you the colors could have changed FYI..
Pin #1 ~ Audio
Pin #2 ~ Shield
Pin #3 ~ Receive
Pin #4 ~ Switch Wire
Pin #5 ~ Transmit
always go by connections not color of the wire. that way you learn and you can do any mic. to any radio.

cobra 4 pin is pin1= shield, pin2= mic audio (usually the shield is wrapped around the mic audio wire).pin 3= transmit or push to talk usually red or white whichever isnt wrapped with the shield, and pin4 = receive or speaker complete
5 pin cobra=1-Audio 2- Shield 3-Receive 4-Switching Wire 5-Transmit, you can jump pins 4 and two

Use trial and error systemathically. If still refuses to work, mike and radio aren't compatibles.

This one you will need a digram. any wiring you need is on that page. Good luck. www.cbtricks.com/radios/cobra/29ltd_29ltd_st_29wx_st/graphics/cobra_29ltdwx-st_29ltd_sch.pdf

The wiring is not likely to be the same.
The information on the radio is here:

You will likely need to open up the mic to identify what your wires connect to to determine the correct oreintation. it is possible too you may find one of the models listed was used by Barjan and is nothing more than a rebranded microphone.
