Tv won't stay on

When I turn the tv off, it shuts off right away-it doesn't even have time to have a picture. The code displays a 2-2, a short protect circuit. I've replaced the convergence chips about 8 months ago but noticed there was a yellow horizontal line going across the tv the night before it quit working. I have 2 new convergence chips and about 4 new resistors(although they don't look burned ). Where should I begin looking/testing?

SOURCE: slight convergence problem after changing convergence circuits

My experience has been that the resistors have fallen out of range. These aren't expensive and neither are the caps that surround this area. If you're pulling the board out to change the resistors, might as well change the caps, too. If you're strapped for cash, but have a multi-meter, you can test the caps and the resistors after they've been taken out of circuit to save a little green. Let me know if you need any help testing them; I'd be glad to help.

Replace the IC's with STK 392-110T.
Toshiba has a Service Bulletin on this problem.

Philips Magnavox 32MT3305 keeps shutting off with relay clicking. The green power light stays on but the picture and sound go out right after the orange status bar goes away. If the channel up or down...

the relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this problem..so before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

Turns off instant turned on

Sorry to say, but this is usually caused by a bad picture tube. A short circuit has occurred, and the TV's protection circuitry shuts the set off right away because high voltages are appearing where they shouldn't. The only cure is a new picture tube, and that would exceed the cost of a new set.

Projection TV keeps shutting off

Good Day, checho3435;

Try this to help to narrow it down:

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SELF- DIAGNOSIS INDICATE X-RAY. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC5A03 PART # 270P704010 AND AN OPEN R5A73 82K ¼ WATT OFF PIN 2 OF IC5A02 ON THE MAIN PCB. 2. SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Good Day, big IRISH. back.gif
