Cd stuck in Dennon cd player so draw will not close nor can I use the player

Liz, gently .. gently but firmly pull open the draw by hand and remove the cd

Switch the unit off.

Switch it on.

Hopefully all will be ok.

If there is a co in it then it probably fell out and is stuck... especially if it was shaken.... unplug the unit.... remove the screws holding the case together and open it up

It sounds like the unit needs a new transport.

This is ususally a indication that the unit is either out of timing, or like you suspect a worn drive belt, most modern DVD players use gears, but it could very well be belt driven, seems the clamper is closed when the tray trys to go in.

if this is a CD that gets plenty of play, (take a dry paper towel, going in one direction in a circular motion wipe the CD)

By not engaged i'm assuming you mean that the disc draw closes then opens again almost immediatley. This would indicate that the disc draw limit switch is not being activated by the draw or the switch has failed.
This is usualy a small sub-miniature micro switch activated by the draw itself, Sometimes a very light spray of switch cleaner into the micro switch will effect a cure. The switch gets a fairly hard life so it is more advisable to replace the switch.

Mine does the same. Press eject and give the front of the draw a sharp tap.. the draw should then open.
Also when loading a disk give the draw a hard shove closed just as it is almost shut - seems to make the disk read ok.
I think both problems are related to a worn / slack tray drive belt... I just haven't been able to find a replacement.

Try removing the buss cabel and den reconnect it..and better see if there is something stuck inside the rom..just to be precautionary..that must be the only problem..ok
