SOURCE: Connecting PS2 to an old TV

Plug the Red, Yellow, and White cords into their respective "IN" ports on the VCR. Run a coax line from the "out" port of the VCR to the coax port on TV. Some VCRs require you to tune to channel 3 or "LINE" which is typically the channel before 2 for this to work. To make things easier, you may want to purchase a modulator. This would allow you more easily set this up. The Mini-modulators aren't very expensive and can be purchased at virtually any electonics store.

SOURCE: Sony FD Trinitron KD-34XBR960 34" TV

Our set turns itself off by itself. Prior to this happening, it goes to a green screen. It usually happens after the set has been on for a couple of hours. We bought the set in April, 2004 and the warrantly has now expired. The longer we keep the set on, the more it turns itself off. Is this a tuner, on/off problem or the tube? Any estimates for repair?

SOURCE: SONY TV PICTURE TURN GREEN WITHOUT RETRACE

Picture goes to high green with retrace lines that shows picture tube is defective and requires replacement.
Usually in above symptom, TV goes to standby mode and standby light blinks when green raster problem occurred.
New TV is better option because picture tube of KV-34XBR960 would not be available any more.
Thanks.

SOURCE: We have a SONY kd-34XBR960 I turned it off and

Turning your tv off did not cause this issue, so don't blame yourself for that. A 6 or 7 blink shutdown is because one of the two switch mode power supply control ic's have failed. the part number on them is mcz3001. They are located on the "D" baord, i don't recommend replacing this yourself because even with a tv unplugged from the wall high voltages still exist in the set.

A repairman may preform one of the two following things, he may change the whole D board or he may replace the individual components. The repair will cost around $200 if they replace the components, and if they replace the board it will cost more.

phillips has the same problem but if your tv actually turns on it could be a short or just a fuse sonys a better tv than phillips should be an easy fix call a repir guy going price for that problem is 75.00 dont pay any more than that. the economy is bad everyone needs the work be smart. make sure if you say yes to the work that the repair guy will waive the consultaion cost of usually 35 to 75 dollars, if you chose to have the work done.

Sony KD-34XBR960 has no power; working perfect, on next start up the usual pop when powered on with remote, but failed to come on. No flashing lights, nothing. Unplugged, waited 24 hours, plugged into...

The problem is in the power supply, the most common cause is an open fuse and open capacitors, if the set is more than 10 years old consideration should given in replacing the tv especially if a professional gets involved.
