I have an American Standard Whirlpool tub, when the power button is pressed the motor just hums. The book says something may be stuck in the impeller. So I finally got access to the motor (NO the BUILDER did not leave an access like he was SUPPOSED to) I disconnected the water lines and the nuts holding the motor on but can't figure out how to disconnect the wire for the power button. The way they wrapped the wire around you can't remove the motor. How does the power button come out??
Thanks Claudia
I think there is a clear or black tube connected to the pump on the back of the black box on top of the pump motor, there is a nut where the tube attaches to the back, unscrew this nut and pull the tube out. If it is not the tube type switch, the pump motor power plug should be plugged into a black or blue control box, this box should have a wire going to the switch in the tub. If you have a buzzing noise, the pump or motor is probably seized, This is caused from lack of use or using bath oils or soap in the tub, When you get the pump and motor out to check, stick a screwdriver in the back of the motor(center of motor hole may or may not have a plug in it) and turn the screw, itshould spin freely with little or no resistance.
Replacement Air Switch will cost you about $20

I mean the wire going from the air accuartor button to the motor. It looks likeit should come apart somehow but I just can't get it off
Thanks Claudia
I can't visualize the scene. I wish I could help more. Is there anyway you can send me a picture?
Do you mean the wire coming from the wall and connected to the motor/button wiring in a housing on the motor?
