SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-6230 receiver set up w/HDMI no sound

BD and DVR hooked up to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV right? If yes: Your receiver set to pass sound trough to the TV, if you want sound from the home theater setting has to be changed.

Does the Yamaha have HDMI inputs? Usually you would connect the directv and dvd player via individual HDMI cables to the Yamaha (input)and then the Yamaha (output) to your TV also via HDMI.

SOURCE: Intermittant Audio with Yamaha RX-V465 only from cable box

I have the same receiver... You can try pressing the Option button and choosing Signal Info to see what audio signal the receiver sees and if that changes over time. Maybe the cable box is not outputting according to specifications... TV can live with that, but receiver maybe can't.
You can also try to connect the cable box via SPDIF cable (optical or coax) to see if it helps or not.

Yamaha purple screen rx-v373

I had this same issue. I think I finally resolved the issue by turning off HDMI Control (HDMI-CEC) on my Blu-Ray player. I had the Blu-Ray player plugged into a Yamaha RX-V375 (almost an identical receiver). I think the source of the issue was that my TV does not not support HDMI-CEC. Turning off HDMI-CEC on the Blu-Ray player fixed the issue. The Yamaha receiver already had HDMI Control disabled, and all the other HDMI devices appeared to have HDMI-CEC disabled or not supported.

In my case, the symptoms of the issue were that I would see the correct picture for a second on power up, then the picture would go away. For the Blu-Ray HDMI input selected on the receiver, I would see a solid purple screen and a blank screen for the rest of the inputs. Sometimes switching inputs fixed the issue, sometimes power cycling would fix it, but it was getting very annoying.

How to connect to my Yamaha R-V503 from my HDTV that comes with HDMI and Optical Output? Thanks!

Hi,here is the possible solution......

** you need to connect "Audio Output " as either : "Optic cable output" or "HDMI "connector " of your TV ,
** to "Optic Cable input"
or if you have "HDMI input" of your YAMAHA Receiver
** than just switch to respective mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..You can use "HDMI" connection as well but sometimes HDMI creates problem on Audio..I recommend you to use Optic cable..

There you go..your Tv sound are on the
YAMAHA receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .
By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV
will come thru your
Receiver

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

Hi, have Yamaha RX-V467 receiver hooked up as follows: directv sat to Yamaha receiver via HDMI. blu-ray to receiver via HDMI. Receiver to Sony lcd tv via HDMI out to TV. Have 2 problems when watching TV...

1) How is it with FM? That -35dB may be normal for this receiver. My old Pioneer is exactly like yours, inaudible at -50, whisper-quiet at -35 on all sources. But it will still crush my skull if I want it to.

2) Page 72. Press STRAIGHT to toggle out of Straight decoding mode.

Satellite Receiver to Yamaha Receiver

It sounds like either on the 612 or the Yamaha Receiver that the HDMI port is faulty, thus causing the flashing picture. It sounds like the 612 to the TV works fine. I would recommend replacing the Yamaha, and if problem persists then try replacing the 612.

Let me be more specific on our problem. We installed the reciever according to directions. The 2 questions are: first, we have Dish Network. Isn't it possible to watch tv with the Yamaha reciever off with...

Look towards the back of the manual. You go into setup. Choose HDMI. Then there is another setting that you have to activate. The receiver must be set to the HDMI input that you want, before the receiver is turned off. I just installed my receiver last night and followed that procedure. Works great.
