Verify the inlet pressure to the heater. those pezioelectric spark lighters are garbage. make sure all manual shut off valves to the heater are open. Pilot tubing may also be blocked

I have a 1991 Norcold 400 series 2 way fridge that works perfectly on AC but won't light on propane.

Clean the spark electrode gap may be to big for spark to jump across to light pilot You will smell gas that fast as it is coming out of the pilot .

Propane smell with pilot on and burner ring/thermostat off. Pilot off no smell. Pilot light is good, burner ring burns cleanly. Logs correctly placed. No line leaks. Failed shutoff valve how to fix?

This is a major hazard, you need to take pictures of the whole thing and then disassemble the whole thing and use ptfe sealant and reassemble the whole thing. Unless you want to get a sniffer to locate the issue, If could also be the pilot pressure is too high and the pilot is not burning all the gas. You may want to call a pro due to explosion risk.

Why is there a strong gas odor?

What is your fuel level? If it is below 10% you may not have a leak. You may be smelling the chemical they add to propane so you can smell it, as propane has no natural odor. If the fuel level is above 10% and you smell a leak, yes, turn off at the tank and call your gas provider. Let them inspect and do a pressure test/leak test for your safety. If you have the cheap fiber logs, you may be smelling those burn.

Heater wont light, seems like all the safety switches have been met,has spark but dosen't seem to be getting propane

About when the sparking starts you should hear a louder snap that should open the gas valve. If you hear this and if there is gas pressure the spark gap is in the correct location it will light (you should also smell gas). On the other hand if any of these things aren't right it won't light. There is a plug on the incoming side of the valve that can be loosened to tell if there is gas available. If you leak enough gas to purge the gas line then that will eliminate a possible air problem. Make sure there is no source of ignition anywhere near during the purging process. Once the plug is closed tightly and you have waited 5 minutes you can try again. If you can't hear the valve come on then you can use a volt/ohm meter to measure the voltage going to the coil of the gas valve. When the ignitor is sparking there should be 115 VAC between these two wires. If you have further questions I should be able to answer them.

My furnace wont come on its an automatic pilot so i dont know what the problem is we have enough propane

Hello, Most newer gas furnaces (propane or natural gas) has one of several different types of igniters. The most common one is called a hot surface igniter. This is a ceramic easy to break, glow coil, glowing igniter. Some has a Spark igniter that lights all the burners from a constant spark and some light the burners off a pilot proven /spark igniter. This one sparks then lights a pilot then the burners will come on. In any case if any of these types are not working they could be cracked or broke. Also the inducer draft motor has to be running, the little motor that hooks to the exhaust of the furnace ( if it has one ). This causes the pressure switch to close then the igniter should come on. My suggestion is to call a qualified service tech from your area to assist you. To determine which one of these may be your problem they will have to perform several test. Hope you get going soon. I hope this helped. J

I cant get the logs to light only the pilot light

Can you smell gas when the pilot goes out? If so, you may have too much pressure. If you just changed bottles and didn't do anything else, look at the flame sensor. It may be the problem. Good luck...Lee

Where is the pilot light on Rinnai EnergySaver 1001F

If you smell gas in a Rinnai you have a big issue. This heater is what is called a direct vent heater with an electronic ignition so the combustion chamber is sealed and the smell of gas is an indication that you have a gas leak. Please call a professional today.

Pilotlight will not light, getting spark, but no propane.

make sure you have the gas valve knob on turned to pilot while pressing that down while pushing the spark it should light or it is tripped on a safety like rollout switch or oxygen depletion sensor if equipped which all ventless heaters are
