Thank you all for your quick response.

The belt snapped!!. I am going to replace it tomorrow.

Any ideal how or why this happens? The belt looks good, no wear and tear and no fraying. I would like to avoid this from happening again. thank you

Hi, Does the noise you are hearing sound like a clock ticking or are you hearing the drive motor running? Does the dryer heat at all?

Hope this info helps, ps don't forget to give me a rating thanks!!

For an electric dryer that runs but doesn’t heat, follow this repair roadmap:
Flip the circuit breaker off and then back on. Electric dryers run on a two-pole, 240v breaker. A common problem is for one of the legs to break which cuts the 240v that the elements need to heat up but it still supplies the 120v for the motor. The result is that the dryer runs but doesn’t heat.
If the breaker checks out, then it’s time to do some surgery. Unplug the dryer and open it up.
. Use your ohm meter to test the thermostats. All should show continuity.
Measure the resistance of the heating element with your ohm meter. Normal readings are in the neighborhood of 30 ohms.
In rare cases, the centrifugal switch in the motor can fail which breaks the power circuit for the heating elements. If this is the case, then the entire motor must be replaced since the centrifugal switch is built into the motor.

I have a Kenmore Electric Series 80 Dryer that the drum inside won't turn but it heats up and smells hot like something is burning. I can however turn it manually.

Remove the top and the front panel to remove the drum after you purchase a belt and teh idler pulley that Sears selles for your dryer. The pulley's bearing has froze up causing the belt to burn up and falling off

I have a used Kenmore Series 80 dryer & the drum stopped turning

Good day,
Not hard to do but check the 2 rear wheels that support the drum and change at the same time if needed. Inspect the belt tensioner as well.
Here's a good tutorial on the belt change.

Kenmore 80 series makes noise in sping cycle

Its the transmission. Try to find a used appliance store in your town. Most save used parts and you should be able to pick up a used tranny for around 100 bucks.
