After removing the wrong fuse for another problem my VdO CDR 500 reverted to the safe mode. I bought car secondhand and code did not come with the documents. Is there any software i can download to get the code if i remove the radio and input the serial number. Regards Pat
Just had the same problem. Removing the radio is first problem - you need a special kit which you can buy from halfords, or get friendly mechanic to do it for you. Then get your Code by inputting serial number (written on metal of radio NOT label) into one of the websites (I got mine from IRC UK) but you will probably have to pay for this. When you have the code do this: 1. switch radio off (with keys in ignition) so date and time are showing. 2. Hold down main volume/on/off button at same time as holding AS button for about 5 secs. 3. Insert your Code by pressing button 1 for first number (ie if first number is 6 you need to press button 1 six times), button 2 for second number, etc. 4. when you have inserted all 4 number of the code you got from the website/garage hold down the AS button on its own.
This worked for me!
No you have to get the code from the dealer. or replace the radio.

Have CDR 500 in SAFE 6, had problem with battery which needed to be replaced, never got code when i bought the car, can anybody help?
