Converting Weber Genesis Silver B from LP to Natural Gas

Does anyone know if this is possible? I've seen conversion kits for other bbq's; never anything that says you can do this with a Weber. The bbq in question is about 10 years old. By the way, I cannot believe how great the condition of the bbq is after 10 years of use. The outside looks brand new, only when you lift the lid do you see it's been well used. Go Weber!

Great idea...it was one we had been thinking of since the grill was pretty old we decided to bite the bullet and get a new NG grill. It is not the same as my Weber but I am hanging onto that one in case we move somewhere else and are allowed to have propane at the condo.

Hello...I have the same grill and want to do the same conversion...From my research, you need to drill out the three orifices with a size #53 wire gauge drill bit. ( this resizes each orifice to 12000 BTU's each, which the grill is rated at 36000 BTU's).Then remove the existing hose and regulator. Replace the hose with a Quick disconnect compression fitted hose. The NG supply needs to have a pressure regulator installed, with a shutoff and quick disconnect fitting installed. Connect the hoes from the grill to the supply, and fire it up...THIS IS WHAT I INTEND ON DOING TO MY GRILL,BUT YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK>>>

the above is correct except the internal valve is sized for propane and will not operate properly just cause you drilled out the orifice. You need to find someone who is converting NG to LP and swap valves.. Then the problem you may have is the valve stem on the LP is taller than the NG value so you may have to shim the Q so the knobs meet the value stem.. Or swap the entire manifold LP for NG

I just did my Silver B all I did was change the orifi drilled to 1/16 bought a hose from Home Depot, hooked it up checked for leaks and presto. No more bottles. I kept my original orifi in case I wanted to revert. Biggest issue is finding orifi. Cheers

I've done it, the valves are the same, the only difference is the orifice size. Federal law and product liability have everyone afraid to do the simplest things anymore. Look online for gas orifice size charts for your but application. Americans have gone from rugged pioneers to scared little rabbits.

Or you could buy the guts for the natural gas model of the genesis silver B and just swap them http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-Genesis-Silver-B-Natural-Gas-Grill-Conversion-Manifold-Hose-New-/251152862915#vi-content

DON'T DO THIS YOURSELF! It regures a new regulator and the burner orifice needs to be drilled out. YOU have no idea what size to drill the orifice out to and you don't have the right tools, because a burner orifice drill kit is $120 (just the drill bits). A tank of propane is $12, why convert it in the first place? You might save $3 per year. I realize the tank weighs 48 lbs., full, but how far do you have to carry it? Please bring the grill to a BBQ retailer that provides service and let thme do this, if you must.

A lot of people should not do this, BUT I am not one of them! A tank of propane is $15 dollars here and I got thru 12 year and it Does double my cost verses nature gas. Not counting the convenience!

IF you are the least bit handy, this is a totally doable job. Listen to rwgnj52. You can use a 1/16 bit, but the #53 is the right size for the job. I know many people who have done this and it works fine. IF you are the least bit sketchy about doing it, DON'T. Take it to a retailer (or buy a new Q). As always, you are responsible for any damage you do to yourself or your home.

When going to NG, you lose the regulator. Also, you need to check the size of the orifices, ng sizes can be obtained from weber. Orifices should screw in on most bbqs. You should also not use the lowest setting on the burners as with ng it will prob be too low. NOTE: All orifices need to be altered, including rotisserie and side burners (if applicable)

Converting a natural gas Webber genesis bbq to propane. Can you buy a kit to convert?

Hello, Kevin -

Do you mean a Weber (not Webber) Genisis grill? If so . . . see the information from the Weber grill company regarding the conversion of a natural gas grill to propane here:

https://consumer-care.weber.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001730474-How-can-I-convert-my-grill-from-liquid-propane-LP-to-natural-gas-NG-or-vice-versa-

Bottom line:
The Weber company does not recommend it and does not provide a conversion kit.

Best wishes.

I just want to know if I can use Charbroil's natural gas conversion kit to convert my Weber Genesis Silver grill.

NO. Weber grills have never been approved for gas conversions. That's why they made/make Natural Gas models & Propane models. Doing so, puts all the liability in your lap, if some thing should go wrong. If you have any doubts, check your Owner's Manual under "Warnings."

Hope this helped to answer your question. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Do they have coversion kits for webber summit silver grills lp to natural

eber does not sell conversion kits for any of their gas grills.Nor, do they recommend converting them, as a matter of safety. Each grill whether Natural Gas or Propane is tested and approved for that specific gas type. With Weber grills,as with many other brands, there's more to converting the grill from one gas type to another, than just changing the burner orifices. It also requires changing all the burners, because their venturi valves (air intake) are not adjustable.

Hope this helps you and thank you for choosing FixYa.

I have a Weber Silver B grill that I purchased 12 years ago.I would like to convert it from propane to Natural Gas. I have been told I cant! Is this true? If not, where can I get a conversion kit? Thanks!

Weber stopped selling conversion kits due to some legal action in 2008. There are no longer kits available. What you would have to do to covert it is order a replacement gas valve for the NG version of your grill just to get the orifices. Then you have to replace the LP regulator with a NG regulator. Typically most NG grills do NOT have a regulator but local building codes will require a NG regulator and a different gas line hose.
Conversion of a BBQ gas valve to NG is a matter of drilling out the orifice to a larger hole in an LP orifice.
You will not find anyone that will perform this conversion for you due to legal liabilites.
If you want to convert it... you will either have to order the whole gas control valve for NG or drill out the orifices yourself in your current gas valve hoping your got the orifice hole size correct when you drilled it. Mind you all liability for doing this lies solely with you.

Can a weber spirit e210 natural gas grill be converted to LP gas? I won the grill but don't have natural gas at my home

Weber sells conversion kits. Basically, you need a new regulator and manifold to accommodate LP instead of the existing regulator/manifold setup for natural gas. Unfortunately, Weber does not sell their parts online. Their parts phone # is: 877-731-8081
