I am using a Hebrew Language kit (version 1.0) on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.4.11 within a Microsoft word document. The Hebrew jumbles the order of the English around it. Also, the vowels, which should appear below and above the Hebrew consonants space out after the consonants. I have tried downloading a different Unicode Hebrew font (biblical Hebrew SIL), but the same thing happens. How can I fix this problem? Or is there a different Hebrew language kit that i should be using? Thanks, scott
I have done typesetting and websites in Hebrew. It wasn't a lot of fun for me considering I don't speak the language. Word particularly has trouble with it. The best solution I found was putting the English text in a text box. You can hide the borders on the text box and change it to right alignment so that it looks like its just part of the doc and goes from left to right as it should. You can adjust how the Hebrew text wraps around the text boxes also.
I had a much easier time with Hebrew in Quark, haven't tried it in InDesign. And please don't ask me how the design department managed to steal a programmer to work on a 50+ language ad campaign. :D
The problem I had was solved with a simple upgrade that I thought I had installed and did not. mea culpa.
