I believe it's a Favorites folder. If you upgraded to Windows 7, you might look for a folder titled C:\Old.Windows and see if it's still in there.
If so, open the folder, press Ctrl/A to highlight all, press Ctrl/C to copy, go to your new Windows install, find the Favorite folder and press Ctrl/V to paste all to that folder.
- If you are using IE, favorites are located in:
C:\Users\<current username you are logged in>\Favorites\
You can also hide the favorites bar by right-clicking anywhere on the top bar of internet browser and just uncheck the favorites bar from the list.
Similarly you can right-click on the top-bar for Mozilla and uncheck the favorites bar so it is not shown.

You don't have to do anything to remove it actually. If you just format the disk it will be removed (for ever though) so just install the right on it don't even have to boot in Linpus.
Making your laptop Dual boot(that is the term for having two operating systems on a computer) with windows and Linux is a little tricky though.
Basically the whole problem is that windows will wipe your linux if you are not careful and will wipe your boot partition for sure (Windows 7 might not - haven't tried it).
So All you have to do is install Windows. While partitining the disk just take enough space for it and leave enough for the windows - you can wipe the whole disk if you want to. The Linux will need from 4 - 12+ GB of installation space (maybe less if it's live cd and you won't keep files there). After you have installed your Windows. Just install your favorite Linux distribution in the space left. If you have any other questions mainly to the Linux installation, I'll be pleased to help you.

You can open your Favorites from the tab while in Internet Explorer, right-click the favorite you want to deleted, and then choose Delete. You can also delete them by opening Copmuter (My Computer), opening you local drive (usually your C: Drive), For Windows XP users, open Documents & Settings, then choose your user file (typically the same name as that on your user account), then open Favorites. From here you can highlight all the links that you want to delete. For Vista or Windows 7 users, open your local drive, open Users, open the folder with your user name on it, open Favorites, and the highlight the links you want to delete. I hope this helps you to resolve your issues.
