Maytag Model # LAT9635AAE

My washing machine started to trip the circuit breaker. Then one night it tripped it and the basement smelled of burned rubber and the machine wouldn't spin the load fast. I replaced both belts and started a load of wash. The wash cycle worked fine, but when it got to the spin cycle, it spun very slowly. The pump belt is spinning, but the drive pulley is only moving at a very slow rate. I'm sure that's why I smelled burned rubber before. Since this is not a belt problem, is this a motor problem? Is this worth repairing?

Still not sure what's going on.
The pulleys seem to turn fine. The one that moves the drum seems to be a little harder to move. There is nothing in between the drums and I don't see any oil anywhere. It does seem that the belts are very loose. The belt that spins the drum seems to be slipping. Is it suppose to be that loose?

I took off the pump belt and ran the machine in spin cycle. The trans belt does spin, but not fast. I only ran it for about 30 seconds and stopped it. I could smell a little burned rubber smell and the bottom part of the motor that the belts go on was pretty hot. It didn't appear that the trans belt was slipping at all.

Had a repair guy out. You were right...it's the transmission. What brand washing machine would you recommend?

Check to see if it is a pump problem or a transmission problem. First remove both belts see if all the pullys turn freely. if the pump has a tight feel check inside pump for a item jammed in it.look for transmission oil on floor or belts if oil is present transmmision if probably going.ALSO check at the top of the tubs for anything stuk in between tubs.

CHECK THE TENSION ON both belts take your fingers and squeeze the belt in the middle just before thebelt touches the other side ofthe belt the motor should move this goes for both belts if one seems to tight it can loosen the tension of the other. the pump belt has to be adjusted by loosening 3 screws under the pump.you can also remove the pump belt and see if the transmission belt gets tighter. If it doesn't the spring tensioner on the motor may be broke or the glide wheels are broke or stuck. If you run the machine with the trans belt only don't fill the mahine with water. just see if the tub spins freely. If it doesn't you may have a bad transmission or remove the inner tub and check for stuck items this is very common.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher trips the 60-amp main breaker but not 20-amp.

Its possible that there may be load on that circuit from other appliances. Had an issue myself with stove and laptop on same circuit.
Check other appliance attached to the 60amp circuit (microwave, stove, kettle etc)

first, un-plug unit and remove rear access cover,it could be a wire with bad insulation that has shorted to the body of the unit, could be an oven/broiler element, could be one of your feed lines to the unit shorted to ground, does it trip brkr w/o anything turned on???you can also isolate the problem that way.good luck

Dryer trips circuit breaker smell almost like something burning coming from dryer

In order to trip a circuit breaker, there is almost for sure, a dead short to ground. Takes quite a bit to trip a breaker. The smell is most likely something electrical burning. Stop resetting the breaker and have it checked out. Continous resetting and tripping can cause more damage. The breaker is doing it's job.

MAH3000AWW Trips 20Amp Breaker at rinse cycle

The motor is known to have bad windings. Do a search for "Neptune Washer will not start" Also just inside the control panel where the start/stop sw is should be a paper folded with the diagnostics test and schematic. It is tucked under the pressure sw attached to the back. If not there then search "Maytag Neptune motor phase test" There is also a Service Manual FREE at Goetlieh's site.

Washer trips circuit breaker

Is washer relatively new? Check circuit breaker for proper size (20 AMPS). Washer must also be on its own circuit. It appears that when the motor starts up it is causing a spike in current (as with any motor), so the breaker is either undersized (Note that if breaker is undersized and you up it to the next size you would also need to replace the wire with the next size up which would be 12/2 with ground), or if you have had your washer a while which I believe is your case the circuit breaker is weakening and is tripping on the current spike. Try swapping out your circuit breaker with a new one and try running the washer again.
