The compatibility setting, in almost 100% of the cases, should be set to "1".  You can find it on the side of the base, it's a little turn wheel that will turn if you stick your thumbnail in it and twist.  I have seen one instance on the Cisco IP phones that requires the compatibility setting to be on 5, so try that as well.
If you have a lifter installed, make sure that the short telephone cable that comes out of the back of the headset's base unit is plugged into the handset port of the telephone (where the handset coily cord is normally plugged into).  You would then plug the handset coily cord into the front of the headset base unit.  Make sure you have that configuration, and try again.
Finally you can try a re-set.  To do this you should lift the headset off of the charging base, make sure the green light on the top of the base is off (the headset is off), and then do the following: 1. Hold down the mute button and the call answer button at the same time. (The mute button is the black little wheel on the top of the headset itself.  If you use the tip of your finger to push that straight in, it will mute the headset) 2.  Keep holding both buttons down until the green light below your thumb on the headset flashes for 2 consecutive series. 3.  Let go.  Wait about 20 seconds then try answering.
If this doesn't work, try a re-subscription: 1. Place the headset back on the charging base. 2. The two microphone volume adjust buttons on the back of the BASE unit should be pressed together.  This will start the red light and the yellow light blinking on the front of the base unit. 3. Hold the mute button down while the headset is still on the charging base.  Hold it down until the red light stops blinking. 4. Disconnect the power to the base so that the red light and yellow light turns off. 5. Plug the power back in after about 5 seconds of it being disconnected and make sure the red light on the front of the charging base is now solid and the yellow light is flashing. 6.  Pick up the headset and try again.

Try adjusting the compatability setting on the side of the base (little black wheel thing you can turn). It may have been dislodged from its correct setting. Aslo check that the cable connections to the telephone are all connected and in the correct sockets.

I was given a CS55 Plantronics head set. Looking for directions to set it up

If you click on the following page:

Plantronics CS55 Wireless Headset

Towards the bottom of the page, click on the tab labeled ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. Within that section, you will see PLANTRONICS CS50/CS55 INTERACTIVE USERS GUIDE to click on. This will help you visually see how to setup and start using your CS55.

We have numerouse CS55 headsets that keep cutting out when speaking on the phone. Choppy sound, missing parts of words etc. Intermittent, will be good for 5 -10 minutes, then bad again.

The first thing to try is resetting the CS55. We hear this a lot and once reset, it usually takes care of the problem. It's equal to a ctrl+alt+del on a computer. Click on the following for detailed instructions and photos:

I am getting feedback and an echo in my Plantronic CS55 wireless

Had similar issue.

This how I fixed it
1) set bottom mic to A
2) set dial on the side of CS55 to "Setting 1" most typical
3) set sound lever on the back to "1"
4) played with mic control on the back until quality became sufficient

I have plantronic headset model CS55 the green light is blinking

Either the battery is low, or the unit is switched on.  If you're looking at the base unit of the CS55, on the right hand side there is a switch that either points to I or II.  If it's on II, your headset will be activated the second it is removed from the base.  If it's on I, it won't turn on, thus it won't turn the light on.  Check to make sure that dial is on I instead of II, and when you pick it up you shouldn't have that problem anymore.
If it's a problem with low battery you have to make sure that when you place the headset on the charging cradle that it's securely seated in there.  Also make sure that you clean the charging contacts (the brass-coloured contacts on the headset and on the base) about once a month with rubbing alcohol.

Caller can't hear me when I talk.

Check to see where the CS55 is plugged into in your phone (The cord coming from the back).  You should NOT have it going into the headset jack of the phone.  It should go into the phone receiver jack, and the phone receiver coily cord should go into the front of the CS55 base unit.

All of a sudden my CS 55 with plantronics stopped working. It shows that its on but the headpiece isnt charing and also doesnt work. Any ideas why?

If the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset shows that it is on, you have to make sure of the following things.

a. the green LED on the base turns on when you turn the call switch on from the headset.
b. the small green LED on the side of the headset is blinking.
c. the telephone headset is lifted from the cradle.
d. if the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink when you place wireless headset on it; trying placing the headset more firmly.
e. If the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink even after placing the wireless headset firmly on the charging cradle, you may need to change the battery.

Alternately you can try resetting the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset.

Reset Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 Wireless Headset

If you have problems with the sound or connection of your Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 wireless phone headset, you may want to try to hard reset it using the following steps:

Note: Ensure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the - position and NOT the = position.

1. Press both the call control button and the listening volume/mute button for 5 seconds. When the indicator light blinks release both buttons.

2. Press the call control button again. The talk indicator light will again blink to indicate the headset is back to normal.

3. Disconnect the AC charger from the AC charging jack for 5 seconds.

4. Reconnect the AC charger.

Now give the Plantronics headset a try.

Plantronics cs55 problem

Turn on the wireless headset as soon as the HL10 lifter picks up the headset. Remember to press the call answer switch. A steady green light should come on the base and the wireless headset should have a small green blinking light on, on its side.

* Make sure your hand receiver is off the hook when using the headset. Also check that you hear a dial tone on the handset/hand receiver before turning on the headset.

Best Buy: Plantronics Problem

James, plug the phone cord that comes out of the back of the CS55 base into the handset port of the Cisco phone, not the headset port.  Then plug the coily cord from the cisco receiver into the front of the CS55.  Don't use the "Headset" button on your Cisco phone, just lift the receiver off.
