Kenmore freezer 26432100 giving off awful odor

Plastic liners hold odor.

1.) Scrub down the liner with vinegar and water. Place baking soda on the shelves and close the door.

2.) There are special air fresheners for freezers to prevent odor. Sears carries them for about $12.00.

CHECK THE THERMOSTAT, IT NEEDS REPLACEMENT

CLORINE BLEACH...clorine is a gas and it will dissipate if you leave the door open until dry...(the stronger the better and WEAR
GLASSES.)please dont use "cheap bleach"........

I have found that the best cleaners for removing left over odors are citrus based cleaners. They help to neutralize odors and prevent re-occurrence. You could also use a diluted bleach as well to sanitize the inside. Make sure it is not too potent or the bleach odor will overcome the bad odor in annoyance.

My freezer was purchased in February, 2004. It is a self defrosting freezer but ice has started forming along the bottom shelf and back wall. Also, after cleaning the freezer the other day it has stopped clycing. The freezer will stop running only if I turn it down to the #1 setting and then it will not come back on. If I turn it up to a higher setting the compressor will not stop running. It ran for over 24 hours and would not cycle unless I turned it off or set it at the #1 setting. When I unplugged it and pulled it away from the wall, there was a green water spot the size of a dinner plate underneath the freezer. Help!! Very Unhappy this freezer is only 6 years old. S in Phila.

Well an old remedy is to put a box of opened arm and hammer baking soda in the freezer and fridge to keep it from having bad odors.If that doesn't work you can try some charcoal it is perfect for absorbing odor, just don't use the matchlight kind or it will smell like lighter fluid.

can you verify the odor. Does the odor smell like burnt wire insulation or of that of burnt meat?

these frigidaire made freezers are notorious for having restrictions in the sealed systems that will cause exactly what your describing.

what happens is oil moves around in the freon system and pools up in the capillary tubes and the freon is not able to flow properly. if the unit is under 5 yrs old then should be inwarranty to sears. if its over 5 then probably cheaper to purchase a new one..
