How to get AC unit out of FP status to heat

FP, or Freeze Protection, is a feature found on some air conditioning (AC) units that helps to prevent the unit from freezing up during cold weather. If your AC unit is in FP status, it means that it has detected a potential freezing condition and has shut off the cooling function to protect the unit.To get your AC unit out of FP status and into heating mode, you will need to take the following steps:
Check the thermostat settings. Make sure that the thermostat is set to "Heat" and that the desired temperature is set to a value above the current room temperature.Check the outdoor unit. Make sure that the outdoor unit is not covered by snow or ice, as this can cause the unit to freeze. If the unit is covered, remove the snow or ice to allow proper airflow.
Check the air filter. A dirty air filter can cause the unit to freeze, so make sure that the air filter is clean. If the filter is dirty, clean or replace it as needed.
Check the refrigerant levels. Low refrigerant levels can cause the unit to freeze, so it's important to make sure that the refrigerant levels are at the proper level. If the refrigerant levels are low, you may need to have a professional technician add more refrigerant to the system.
Reset the unit. If you have tried the above steps and the unit is still in FP mode, you may need to reset the unit. To do this, turn off the power to the unit and then turn it back on after a few minutes.

I have an LG hotel ac/heat ptac unit. It is showing a code of FP what does this mean?

I'm pretty sure the FP code means freeze protection engaged. It prevents the outside coil from freezing

Sir I have a LG terminal airconditionewr/heatpump unit and when i woke up this morning the unit was on with a digital code FP on the screen. can you tell me what this means.

FP- Freeze protection engaged. Check temp setting not more than 5 degree of your room temp.
Check gas pressure. Due to low pressure also freezing will be there. Check and rectify it.

Its 15 degrees outside and my amana unit is off. every so often it kicks on by itself and runs for about 10 seconds then shuts off again. while it is running the control panel flashes FP, what is it trying...

I was wondering the same thing about our unit until I found the specs online and read that it has freeze protection. When the temp goes below 40 degrees, the fan comes on to prevent damage to the unit.

LG Air Conditioner/Heat Unit spits cold air

I believe the "FP" probably stands for Freeze Protection and it's there to prevent your outside coil from freezing up and causing your head pressure to drop. To do this, it briefly has to reverse the cycle from heating to cooling. This is normal in a heat pump.
