1.control panel->system->hardware->DEVICE MANAGER
2.uninstall your driver
3.restart you computer
4.on tray icon a balloon come with a MSG of 'found new hardware'
5.click on it
6.select your driver from it .then select suitable option
if you still have problem buy a you op(win xp,vista,7..).using that disk repair you computer
restart your system or otherwise eject the writer data cable and attach it again. or if the problem is continue then change your data cable of the writer

So I have been giving them hell on the laptop support and finally been given this number. I have just phoned it and offices are now shut till monday.
