This was a common problem with certain MacBook Pros. I would highly recommend that you need to replace the keyboard/palm rest. These can be purchased via eBay. Make sure that you purchase the right one for your laptop as there are several different variations. The palmist has numbers on the back of it and also there is a sticker on the inside that gives the info about the computer. These will help you find the right unit you need. There are other options as well, first and foremost is to update your software, the next would be to reinstall all software, which of coarse means that you will loose everything and it takes forever to do. But my experience has been that the palmers/keybaord has gone bad.

If you're using an external mouse, make sure you have a single colour mouse pad as anything with different colours/lines on will cause the effect you're having.
You mention it's customised, could it be the customisation that's causing the problem.

Cursor restricted to top left area using graphics tablet

It's the windows 7 tablet feature that causes the problem. To solve it you have to disable it. Go to start -> search write "services.msc" (without the strokes) and hit enter. Now search for "Tablet PC Input Service" double click on it and when a little window pops up set Disabled under startup type list box. Now if you want to see effect immediately there is a button Stop, click on it, and wait until service is stopped. When done close both windows. This way you don't have to even restart your pc.

My TI 84 Plus Caluclator

2. Press [2nd][CALC][5:Intersect]

4c21f92.jpg

The cursor is on one of the curves. Read the equation top of the screen. If it is one of the curves you want press [ENTER]. The cursor jumps to another curve (in this case the only other curve).
f75e725.jpg
Read the equation on top of the screen to verify thst it is the correct one. Press [ENTER]. The calculator asks asks for a guess of the coordinates of the intersection point.

As the intersection point is to the left of the current cursor position, use the left arrow to move cursor closer to the point.

Press [ENTER], and wait for the solution. Here it is.
2b043d0.jpg

In your question you talk about y intercept. If you want to calculate the ordinate of the point where a curve intersects the Y-axis, it is more efficient to use the [2nd][CAL][1:Value] selection.
0a11a73.jpg
You enter X=0 and press [ENTER]. The cursor jumps on the first curve (Y1=) an gives you the y-intercept.
7420d8f.jpg
Notice the position of cursor on graph. The y-value at the bottom is its ordinate.
To get the y-intercept of the second curve, leave the cursor on y axis and press the DownArrow. Cursor jumps to tthe second curve.
Since the X=0 is still stored, the value of y is displayed directly.

Hope it helps.

Moving cursor.

well there is a few things that could possibly be happening. if it is a touch pad or a wireless mouse something like a cell phone sitting close enough to them could be causing some interference. the second one is that you could possibly have the mouse keys turned on where you can control the mouse with the keyboard.
