Problem with charging

The Sansa charges via the USB cable. Fully charged, it should be good for 12-15 hours of playing. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge external devices. If your computer doesn't charge the Sansa, try a different computer. You can also charge the Sansa using other USB charges, such as you'll see for charging cell phones from a wall outlet or a car cigarette lighter.

Below are some things to check for when your Sansa player does not charge..
USB Cable Make sure that the USB cable is properly plugged in and use the original cable that came with your player. Also try ports on the back of your computer, these ports have more available power. Some computers have limited power to charge up the device...
Computer in Hibernation mode Make sure the computer isn't entering hibernation or sleep mode while the device is connected. The computer must be ON in order to charge your player.
USB Port 2.0 Make sure the player is connected to a USB 2.0 port (1.1 occasionally causes charging problems).
Battery Make sure the battery is fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.
Latest firmware Depending on what Sansa player you have, make sure it's up to date with the latest firmware.
AC charger (optional) AC chargers (sold separately) have a 500-1000 milliamp max output, which provides much better charging ability than a USB port. These accessories are available on our online store.

To Remove the Battery... 1. Remove the back on the e200 by removing the 4 screws. 2. Lift off the back by using a finger nail or a small flat head screw driver. It will not take a lot of force to remove. NOTE: When replacing the e200 battery be sure that the contacts on the battery line up with the contacts on the player. 3. The battery has three gold contacts on one end of the battery, which is near the words SanDisk Sansa. Be sure these contacts match up with the three gold contacts on the back of the player. 4. Lightly push the lined up battery up against the contacts of the player until the bottom end of the battery can be pushed into place. 5. Replace the lid to the back of the player and then plug the player into the computer using the Sansa cable. 6. Once the player has connected to the computer and is ready to be used or says "Connected", unplug the device.
NOTE: If the device goes directly to a black screen after unplugging it, then the battery has been replaced incorrectly. Take the back off the player once again and flip the battery around and the e200 device should work properly.

eventually need to be replaced as they have limited charge
cycles (which vary with use and settings).

Li-ion Battery
The Sansa e200 MP3 player comes with a replaceable and rechargeable
lithium ion battery. To use the player for the very first time, remember to
fully charge the Li-ion battery. You can charge your Sansa through the USB
port of your computer, a car adapter (not included) USB port, or AC adapter
(not included) USB port.


Please execute the following instructions for charging the battery using
an USB port.
1) Connect the smaller end of the USB cable into an available USB
port on the computer
2) Connect the larger end of the USB cable into the dock connector of
the player
3) The computer must be on for most USB ports to charge your
battery. Your Sansa will show connected and the yellow charging
indicator will appear. The battery level indicator will blink while
charging. You will not be able to play while connected to the
computer USB.
4) To stop recharging, disconnect the cable.
The battery can also be charged using an AC adapter (not included) or
a car adapter (not included) and you will be able to play your device
while charging with one of the adapters. The battery will reach
approximately 70% charge in 2.5 hours and full charge in about 3.5
hours. It is recommended that you fully charge your Sansa e200
before the first use.

try leaving it in the computer charging over night... if that doesnt work, call custumer care!

   Remove the cap over the USB plug and insert the unit into the USB port of a desktop or laptop computer. The computer will recognize the Sansa Express as a new hard disk drive.
   
2. 
   
   Locate the battery icon on the upper right of the screen. The battery icon will fill in with color as the unit charges. When the icon is filled in, the charge is complete. The unit will fully charge in about 3 hours as long as the desktop computer or laptop is powered on.
   
3. 
   Plug the unit into the USB port of a car or AC adapter and then plug the adapter into an AC outlet or an auto cigarette lighter socket, as the case may be. The Sansa Express will charge in about 3 hours.

I believe they have an excellent Return Authorization system, that if you truly have trouble with your disk player and it's still under warranty, gather your receipts and get on line to get an RMA. I have successfully returned to disc players that were infact faulty (FAT problems) and received two replacement players. Get on it right away. Look at the manaul online too. IT can be very helpful. I've included the Battery info, and the link for the manual at the end.
