Wife took shelf out and it came apart, played with the shelf for two days but am not sure how exactly to put it back together or in??
Let me just say, your post helped me, because I realized that I was not going crazy. But, I was able to find the manual on this frigerator, which was key. There was one phrase in the manual that gave me help - "when the glass shelf is pushed to the rear, it will align the rear latches.
Manual from whirlpool website:

So, the rear latches must be installed in such a way that the sliding glass shelf not only touches them, but pushes them into the correct position.
This fact helped me to try different positions, each time testing to see if the glass shelf would do anything. Finally, I realized that there is a triangular shaped part of the rear latch. The hypotenuse of the triangle is what comes into contact with the little nub on the underside of the glass shelf. The nub on the glass shelf pushes the rear latch along the hypotenuse of the right triangle, and into the correct position.
Here is a picture of it installed in my frigerator, which I am sure will tell it better than any words:
So where do the little blue clips go?
I would like to add only one thing: when you're replacing the shelf, any shelves above it must be removed because the elevator shelf needs to be threaded onto the metal tracks on the back wall inside the refrigerator. And the way to do that is at the top of the tracks, where they stop before reaching the top of the interior cabinet.
Thank you uncurly!! I couldn't figure out how to get mine off and your comment made all the difference, I didn't realize the shelf above was hiding where it would lift off, I was stuck thinking the locks were they key when it was much simpler, thank you!

I have the same problem with the elevator shelf and almost all of the shelves on the Maytag Plus. Right now everything is out of the frig, except for the bottom drawers. The cold control section freezes food even when it is turned down.
