I want to restore my dell deminsion 2300 back to factory condition

Unless your using a email program such as thunder bird or if it is a Yahoo or Gmail account I would not even worry about having to delete anything. Just send it back they cannot access private information without the password anyway. So send it back get it fixed and move forward with a new machine when it comes back? John

Click to select the check box for Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition. 9. Click Next. The computer is restored to the default factory configuration. 10. When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.

Does it have a Microsoft sticker on the case giving you a serial number and product type: 2000, XP Home , XP Pro etc

If it has one then you need to find a buddy with a copy of that software and hope that it is compatible with the version you have on your system.

If not then it is off to the shop for a fresh copy
