The code is blinking 6 red, does that always mean its the thermal fuse or is it possible that it can be the G1 board part # A-1060-177-a?? I see both issues as being a common problem area for this particular Sony. Please help, I need to save thousands! I would like to do the repairs myself as well.
G1 board is your issue, thermal sensor has different error code
The 6 flash error could very well be the G1 board, but you will need to test the DD 6 volts on the board first. I have a service manual if you need it, and know how to do this.
I need an e-mail address to send you the service manual. Also how much experience do you have working on prited circuit boards and using a multimeter?
I have sent you the service manual.
Did you get anywhere with this yet?

You have to check all voltages if bad or good! check the hot side section if have a voltage! maybe you have defective oscillation circuit in hotside.

The screen never powers up, fans do not turn on and the only activity going on is the three green blinks followed by a succession of 6 red. Has anyone heard of the Thermal Fuse $5 to $10 dollar part being a common problem linked to the 6 red code? How about the G1 board being replaced as a whole being a common problem linked to that particular code? I thought I had it minimized to those two options... Thanks for any advise it is all helpull information!
So, if the G1 board or Thermal Fuse are part of or connected to a circuit board on hotside then it is very likely that these common problems can be repaired by simply replaceing the whole G1 board? Would you happen to know where I can find this circuit board specificaly as far as location on the TV exactly?
Thank you techman for the good info, I opened it up once before as the screw that holds the lamp door was loose and had to be secured properly, but this procedure is more complicated. I would greatly appreciate if you could help with the service manuel as it would narrow down the search for the exact location on this units problem area. Thanks again for replying.
Does anyone know the procedure to testing this G1 board? Service manual? What does it look like and does the TV need major adjustments to be made after the procedure is complete? I would like to do the complete repair myself, even if I have to do some sodering. I would rather get the whole G-1 board if that would keep the problem from happening again. I would like this to be the final fix with this particular issue at least! I keep seeing postings with different symptoms and that looks bad on Sony Wega TVs.
you can send it to [email protected]. Thanks again. I don't have any experience working with boards, but I have friends that can guide me and I do have a multimeter.
