I have a dynex tv with basic cable coaxle plugged in. It receives around 20-25 channels after running auto scan with the source as "cable". After powering the tv down and then back on it defaults to "air" and none of the found channels are stored. I must change it to "cable" and run auto scan again. Any ideas?

In the TV se-up menu look for a place to set the 'Default antenna input' to cable/coaxial.

SOURCE: Dynex 32" 720 LCD HDTV - no channel listing after run auto scan?

Excuse me but the other answers are written by people who have not actually confronted the problem and are just guessing. They are all wrong. Here's the answer:

If your TV is expecting a TV input, it will keep searching for at least one TV channel on cable or antenna. If you only have a DVD player plugged in, for example, or if your cable is hooked up wrong, so there's no video signal on it, the TV will keep searching forever. (This is an unforgivable design flaw, by the way. But then, it was a cheap TV, wasn't it?)

To solve the problem, look at your remote control. You will find input buttons. Mine are small, along the top, right under the "power" button. Try pressing "video" for example, instead of TV. That stops the TV from hunting for TV channels.

Have a merry Christmas. Enjoy your new TV. Watch it in moderation and eat fruit and vegetables every day.

SOURCE: My tv keeps saying to run auto channel scan.

FIRST, you must check ALL antenna connection, and if possible, try another "Known Good" antenna system. If it proves that the antenna system is all OK, then I fear your Tuner, has failed, this is a common event, that I get from time to time at my shop. Usually, it is a straight forward job and the cost would be about $250 - $350, depending exactly what is going on. However it would be best to get a "Quote" first, before proceeding, as this may only be a symptom, of a larger underlying problem, that may indeed cost much more.

SOURCE: Dynex TV losing favorite channels

Try changing the batteries in your remote. If the batteries are weak they may not be sending strong enough signals to the TV thus sending different signals than you meant.

Hi, I have a DYNEX 32in. 720p Flat-Screen TV. I am on Antenna & I can't get any channels below 16.1. I did Auto-scan. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, AngelRock.

Do you have any other devices in your setup (cable box/modem, satellite, receiver, gaming consoles, etc)? What type of connection are you using (HDMI, composite/component)? Are you trying to obtain additional channels through a cable scan, or through basic antenna?

How do i run a channel scan? there is nothing in the manual

Found this in the most frequently asked questions at the Dynex customer support website on page 3. the website is:(http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-680-23-dynex-32-720p-flat-panel-lcd-hdtv-matte-black.aspx) You can also call the customer support telephone number at 1-800-305-2204. between the hours of 7am-12am CST. Give them the model number of you television and tell them you are having problems completing the autoscan of the television. I hope this information helps you with your problem. 1.How do I set up my channels or run an autochannel search? 2.Are you using a cable/satellite box, cable connected directly to the TV, or an antenna? 3.If you are using a cable or satellite box you must use the remote that came with that box to change channels. 4.Make sure you have the correct input selected to view channels via the cable or satellite box. For example, if the cable or satellite box is connected via component cables please press input and select Component 1 or Component 2 to view your channels. If you are using cable connected directly to the TV: 1.Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens. 2.Press < or > to select Channel, then press v to access the Channel menu. 3.Press ^ or v to select Air/Cable, then press < or > to select Cable. 4.Press ^ or v to select Auto Scan. Press > or ENTER. 5.Press ^ or v to select Cable System, then press < or > to select your type of cable or satellite system. You can select STD, IRC, HRC, or AUTO. If you are not sure what type of system you have, select AUTO. 1.Press ^ or v to select Start to Scan, then press > or ENTER to start scanning. Your TV memorizes all cable channels you receive. If you are using an antenna: 1.Press MENU. What you have to do it go to the TV Menu and go to channel. Then go to channel scan and do one of those. THe problem is that is just doesnt know where to look for channels, but a quick scan will fix that.

Cable TV connection

Hi, A couple of possibilities: 1. Line loss, some of the cables might be too long, shorted, loose ground, not connected right; 2. Splitter - passive splitter, you might be better off using a distribution amplifies (with gain control pref); 3. RFI - TV interference from external sources. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
