CL7000 2mm Black Streak on Back Side of Paper

Hi. My printer is printing a light (not uniform) black streak/line on the back side of pages. It is about 2mm wide and goes arcross the entire page. It occurs about 4.5" from the bottom of the page and is very consistent.

It sounds like a dirty roller to me but I don't know where to look. Any Ideas?

Thanks the quick reply! Do you mean the waste bottle? I'm not sure where/what the cleaning unit is. Do you have a model/part number?

  • Charles McCarthy May 05, 2009

Thanks! I see where the unit is now. I'll see about getting it replaced. I hope that fixes my problem.

BLACK LINE ALONG RIGHT SIDE OF LETTER SIZE PAPER

Is this and Okidata C5100? And is the stripe vertical up and down on the page? I'm going to assume yes to both of those for the sake of trying to help. Worse case is the fuser unit in the machine is wearing in one spot and thats why the streak is appearing. Also, many color printers require a seperate drum unit or photo conductor unit. These could have a wear spot on them as well. They can fail long befor the change drum light appears. Other than that remove and inspect the black cartridge. If there is a shutter on it, pull back and inspect the two inner rollers. You're looking for any wear spots in a location that corresponds to the streaks on the paper...or an excessive amount of toner leaking from one spot on it. Hope this helps!!

Printer prints a black streak down the reverse side

You have a build up of ink inside the printer. I had a Canon that did this. I had to take the ink & print head out, and tear a paper towel strip 1 " wide and 13" long or however long the paper towel is. I folded it in half down the length so it was 1/2x13. Then used a plastic strip to shove it under the part the print head sits in. Once I got the towel to the other side, I grabbed it with my hand. I removed the plastic strip used to shove the paper towel under. So now the paper towel sticks out both sides underneath the print head cradle. I gently pull the paper towel back and forth so the paper towel can clean off the ink build up. Hope this helps.

Wide black streak on back of printed paper

Hi,

it is not directly coming from the head. Probably you are printing your photos without borders. This means that the printer prints slightly beyond he paper. As a consequence is sprays ink on the mechanics and after a while it starts to smear on the back of the paper.

This phenomenon is even mentioned in the printer manual (kind of caution when selecting borderless printing).

There is a menu item in the printer utilities that lets you clean the printer mechanics with a folded paper. I tried this, but it helps only little.

I have the same effect on a pixma IP 4500 , and I live with it.

Cheers

Our Cannon MP 500 is leaving a 1/4" wide black streak on the back side of copies. I have cleaned off the cartridge heads, replaced the ink tanks cleaned the heads to no avail. What is the problem and how...

HI Foster,
The problem is not with the print head. Print a blank page and if you are still getting the streak. Something is probably trapped in the printer or the rollers are dirty.

Printer prints a line across the paper around three inch from the left hand side of the page.

Check your Toner Carts.
Is the line a certain color?
Black perhaps?

Lift the door of the toner cart.
If you see a streak on your toner drum, you will see a streak on your paperwork.

Look at your fuser as well.
Is there a problem with the big orange roller?
BEWARE! Don't touch the fuser roller its EXTREMELY HOT!
Let the printer cool down before inspecting.

Black streak on one side

Stop the print with a little practice, half to 3/4 of the way threw machine by opening door at right time. You want the paper to be jammed/stopped after the drum (has image on paper) but before fuser (print should still rub off)

fuser is blue green 300 thingy

If print is line less where stopped then mark is from fuser, replace

If print has line before fuser then it is drum/cartridge

..probally drum..need more info to know for sure, ie you say mark when faxing I guessing you mean receiving, what happens in copy mode is same as printing I'm assuming too
