Serial numbers used to be used to tell the age of instruments. It seems now with Yamaha they are used as a tracking number for accounts purposes.

SOURCE: Could I get some more info on a Yamaha clarinet

That's the serial #. I can't look up any Yamaha info by serial #. I you go to www.yamaha.com click on musical instruments, then support, you can call or email them directly to get model, product info, owners guides can be downloaded, warranty info and replacement parts can be found. It's a very user friendly site. Hope this helps.

I have Yamaha clarinet serial number 017837 is it high Bb orC

Not sure about the serial #... but 'C' clarinets are not common.
They are slightly shorter (2" perhaps? ) than the far more common Bb clarinet.

I have clarinet with serial number p0048746, I think , it is Selmer but not sure, because there is nothing only serial number. Is it Selmer clarinet with this serial?

Make sure of your serial number. Then take it to a music store that deals with clarinets. You need to know what type/brand of clarinet you before you can know. I do know that Selmer #'s are nowhere close to the serial $ you provided.

Is the serial number J96107 a real serial number? I was told that they only went up to J96096.

As with any hardware, you need to supply a "brand name" or manufacturer and what the "model number" is. Of course, a model number is not a serial number. Even within a brand, each model may have its own set of serial numbers. I suggest you do a google search for "brand serial numbers" replacing the word brand with your specific brand. But here is a short cut that may serve you well:

If you want to try another type of direct google search for your:

If you do not know the brand, then try the type of instrument and serial numbers. That may offer you a list of different instrument brands with links to serial numbers associated with them. Here is a result for a search for clarinet serial numbers.
