I don't think it's the bulb. Sounds like an LCD panel issue. Maybe one or more of the 3 LCD panels is either not working right or the unit has been dropped/jarred and the panels have moved (All three have to line up right optically to give the right colours). You need to take the projector to a qualified service centre.

this sounds like the DMD board on the light engine not working properly. It's not something that can be fixed in the settings, but it is a hardware failure. light engines are usually very costly to repair. if the projector is still under warranty have it serviced by Acer.
