My Singer Quantum CXL seems to be jammed

I was in the middle of some light machine quilting (just a straight seam - nothing fancy) when my machine seized up and stopped working. When I press the pedal, it makes a nasty grinding sound and the needle moves ever so slightly side to side, but never down. The wheel will turn about one full rotation, but them stops without moving the needle. I've tried cleaning, lubricating, removing and replacing the needle and presser foot, re-threading - all to no avail. No one local will work on a computerized machine. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Cxl manual

User's Manuals, including yours, are available as a free download the Singer Sewing Machine website. Actually, when you enter CXL you get the XL-50 user's manual, which is essentially the same machine, although a few of the patterns may be different. The CXL, XL-50, XL-10 and XL-1 are basically the same machine; I own a CXL and XL-50, and love them. They can sew SIDEWAYS--straight AND zigzag stitch!

Can I use my singer simple 3116 to quilt

you could probably do light quilting on it, you'd probably
need to buy a extension table for it.
here's a link for parts for the the machine, they do have a extension
table you might be interested in.

I'm looking for a darning foot to use on my Quantum CXL so I can do free motion quilting. Is there one available?

You will have to remove the adapter for the clip on presser feet to use the darning foot - http://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/pd60-4021.php same as you would to use the walking foot.

Quantum CXL The needle will not pick up bobbin thread. seems to hit medal. It is not a 1000 model It was bought 11-01-95.

Your shuttle timing is out, this will need a qualified mechanic to fix it, it is to complicated to explain, as the needle timing may also be out.l
