No picture can mean different things to different people. To a technician it often means no raster. Since we have sound it most likely means we have no EHT supply to the tube and our attention will be drawn to a problem in the line output stage. But television receivers are devious litle devils and often hide the true nature of the problem. A fault in the frame output stage often results in a blank screen. Shurely not you'd get a bright horizontal line across the screen I hear you say (my good hearing is a result of listening to peoples service problems for the last fifty years) well no since
in most sets the beam limiting will take effect, blanking the raster to prevent image burn on the screen. If you increase the A1 voltage on the flyback transformer, it's right next to the focus adjustment you will see the horizontal line become visible. Turn the A1 back so the line disappears. Check LT supply to frame stage for open circuit safety resistor, replace frame output ic and check all electrolytic capacitors around the IC.
Give yourself a pat on back for not being fooled by the little devil and explain to your television that your more than a match fot it.

OK so you are saying that you can hear the TV even when the TV flashes to a blue screen right can you hear a diff noise that it has never made before

Some TVs are incompatible with Wiis.

you need to change the CONVERGENCE ICs , if you cant do it then it needs to be serviced by a HITACHI authorize service shop , hope this helps AJ

If the Video (Picture/Pix) is gone but you can hear the Audio (sound), then it could mean the YSUS PCB Assembly is gone/kaput/finish. Can replace the PCB, not repair the PCB due to timing circuitry involve. Cost maybe roughly $500 depending where you located. The PCB is located on the left hand side of your TV when you are facing the back (Back open). Might find 3-4 brown flex membrane connecting to the plasma panel. The PCB has a silver or black aluminum heatsink (big) on it.

Can you take a picture of the screen and post it? It is not possible for both the horizontal and vertical stages to fail at the same time to produce a cross. A picture of the screen would help significantly.
