Can't install cd software for lifecam 1.4

This problem can occur if:

(1) You previously installed a Logitech Webcam.
(2) The LifeCam drivers are installed incorrectly.

Solution:

Method 1: Update the LifeCam drivers in Device Manager
Open Device Manager.
In Windows Vista, click Start , type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
Expand the following entries:
Sound, video , and game controllers
Imaging Devices
Look for a black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field next to a device. The exclamation point indicates that the device has a problem. Right-click the device, and then click the option that corresponds to your version of Windows:
In Windows Vista, follow these steps:
Click Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Browse.
In the Browse For Folder dialog box, move to the following folder and then click OK:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\Driver32
If a driver is not found, try the following folders:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
C:\Windows\Inf
Click Next.
In Windows XP, follow these steps:
Click Update Driver.
Click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
Click to select the Include this location in the search check box, and then click Browse.
In the Browse For Folder dialog box, move to the following folder and then click OK:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\Driver32
If a driver is not found, try the following folders:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
C:\Windows\Inf
Click Next.

Method 2: Download and install the latest software
To download the most recent version of the LifeCam software, follow these steps:
Visit the following Microsoft Hardware Web site:

In the Select type of product box, select Webcams.
In the Select your product box, select your LifeCam product.
In the Select your operating system box, select your version of Windows.

Click the link to download the most recent version of the LifeCam software.

First of all check the minimum requirements(hardware , like RAM , processer etc.) to install the software .

Second , check are you logged in with the administrator rights.

Third , check if camera software is compatible with your current operating system.

First off, see if the webcam shows up in your device manager. You can access that by right clicking on "Computer" in the start menu, and going to properties.

On the right of that new window, you should see a link for "Device Manager".

Scroll until you see "Imaging Devices", and verify that the camera is even showing up on your system. If it is, go to its properties and driver tab, and verify that it has drivers assigned to it.

If it does, test using the camera in your program of choice. If it is not working, my best advice is when windows searches for the software (where it said it couldnt find any), try to direct it to the directory on the installation CD that has the driver in it.

Uninstall Windows Vista. Do a fresh install of Windows XP Professional Sp2. Download XP drivers and install camera. Many software programs have trouble initializing in Windows Vista. Good luck!
