I have a pioneer vsx-815 reciever and today while i was listening to some music like i always do, we had a power outage for a while and after the power returned my receiver wont turn on. the light in the standby button keeps flashing but it just wont turn on. if i push any of the buttons while the light flashes on. the light immediatly goes off for a few seconds. we have a had power outages before and it always seem to work like normal after the power comes back. i dont know whats different about today.
I have vsx-d812 that has an AMP ERR in error menu. the troubleshooting was found to be Q696 and Q697 in the DC prot. area on "C" board, up near front toward diplay in center of c board. You can get access to error codes on VSX pioneer unit by pressing "enter" and "adv. surr." simultaneously for 2 sec. The display should show what error code you are experiencing. I believe there are three diff. error codes. 1) AMP ERR 2) OVERLOAD 3) BOAD ERR (not mistyped) I hope this helps pinpoint error code for ya.
Thanks so much for the help on Enter-Adv Surround - fixed my problem as well!!! I love the internet!
What do you do after you find the code like i have AMP ERR

I have the same problem. my sandby light is on but my receiver will not turn on! I checked my power going into the power supply board that was good. But i do not have power going to the transformer or the receptacle. And both of my fuses r good. check ur fuses and go from there . If u know how to get a power supply. please let me know.
Resetting the main unit
Use this procedure to reset all the receiver's settings to the factory default. Use the front
panel controls to do this.
1 Switch the receiver into standby.
2 While holding down the TONE button, press and hold the STANDBY/ON button for about three seconds.
3 When you see RESET? appear in the display, press ENTER .
OK? shows in the display.
4 Press SYSTEM SETUP to confirm.
OK appears in the display to indicate that the receiver has been reset to the factory default
settings.
