I have a Caloric Prestige series gas range. I don't have the manual and the clocks on the oven which allows you to set a start and end time for oven cleaning (I think that's what the clocks are for) do not work. Is it safe for me to clean the oven? I think I should 1)take out the shelves inside the oven 2)LOCK THE OVEN 3) turn the right hand knob on the stove to CLEAN and 4) turn the left hand knob to what? On this knob (by which I set the temperature for baking). There is an arrow oon this knob under the word CLEAN that says "turn to stop." What do I set this knob too: Broil? or 550 degrees? Or do I have to set this at all, once I turn the other knob to CLEAN? Since the clocks don't work, how long should I let it clean? Then what do I do: unlock the door and let it cool?

Best thing you can do is to search for the manual of the unit either on the net or on the website of the merchant that sells of manufactures these units. Doing anything improperly might render the unit useless or if overdone, it might clog the heads and cause not to work, or worse, to clog and cause a build up and possibly an explosion. Don't mess with gas, do it properly and safely.

SOURCE: caloric gas stove prestige series

to jenna 12 Does your stove have a stop and start timer? When you set your clock you may have inadvertantly moved the stop or start time on that timer. Check them, if they have knobs for setting the stop and start time, make sure the pointer is pointing to the current time and that the knob is popped out and not stuck in. when you have it right both the stop and the start knob should be out, not pushed in. They will pop out when you turn them to the current time.

These timers allow you to start something cookin at a time delayed several hours. this means they will not allow the oven to come on until it hits that time that you may have set in error.

If your stove has a digital stop and start timer check each one so that both show the current time, then your oven should light.

SOURCE: Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.

If you lock the oven to clean it you will not be able to get it open again;
call a serviceman to repair your range; they will show you the correct procedure for setting the clean cycle.

Hello,

The ignitor is bad again,if it (ignitor) comes on but no flame/heat its the ignotor again, what would make the ignotor go bad so fast (usually last 10-15 years) is a problem with the oven burner, so now BOTH the ignitor and burner would need to be replaced,if it is 15 years old the ignitor is readily avaliable but the burner may not be

Broiler coil is on when bake is turned on...is this normal?

On some kitchen ranges, the broiler comes on during the preheat cycle to speed up the process of warming up the oven and reduce the wait time. This is intended as an energy saving feature as well by reducing the amount gas used on a gas range and the amount of electricity with an electric range.

If the broiler comes on and STAYS on while you are baking, this is NOT normal and is probably an indicaiton that you have a problem with the Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. This is your timer/clock assembly on the operator console. The EOC controls all the oven features.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. Please post your MODEL NUMBER when submitting questions, so I can determine how your range is configured. I hope this helps you.
