My Bravia Model KDL 46Z4500 (4 months old) turns itself off & red standby light flashes 7 times. Only way to turn the TV back on is unplug and reconnect (only temporary fix as TV will turn itself off again in a short time).

G'day Lee, sounds like you may have a 'dry joint' meaning the solder has come adrift, to open the back up will need special tools to fix it. Hope you can get it fixed. Cheers Greg.

If this set is under warranty you should return it to get it repaired/replaced by the seller. Let them pay for repairs. If not then;
This sounds like the power supply board is failing. The electrolytic capacitors on the board may need to be replaced.

Please unplug tv from wall socket for minute or so,, replug back in and turn it On.
If tv still goes to standby itself than its standby light would blink to show an error in somewhere inside tv circuits.
Let me know how many times standby red light blinking? There would be 3 seconds long pause in blinking so count pause to pause to determine problem section.

I finally managed to solve this problem by unplugging everything - scarts - HDD cables - power etc and left it for an hour. When I turned it back on again the problem had sorted itself out.

there is a bad ground may on the cable check the voltage on the cable & set if on cable call the cable company. if tv call sony they may help with cost may be still under warranty

sony 52 inch tv in stand by mode comes on and off on its own

Take it down from its mount and try to restart it if this resolves the issue your mount is too tight on the back of the lcd monitor.. This happend to me as well good luck with your BRAVIA

I would guess your power supply board is slowly disintegrating. It is hard to tell what it is, until it finishes frying itself out. Plan on replacing the power board soon, 1-3 months maybe.

what model of Sony is it? On many of the Sony projectors, a 3 flash error code indicates the lamp is not properly seated/installed or the lamp door is not closed properly
