Those units are bottom of the barrel. Sorry. You and I have already spent more time on it than it is worth. Check power, and switches. Ewaste. Invest In a Panasonic or other major brand. You will enjoy the picture a lot more also. Check Fry's or Ebay.

SOURCE: No Sound when playing a video game on Coby Pertable DVD player

Do you have the audio plugs in the proper spot? The red & white audio plugs from the PS 2 need to be plugged into the audio in jacks on the portable dvd player in order to get sound. Should match up red to red; white to white for sound, yellow to yellow for video. Hope this helps.

My coby dvd player will not load dvds. After trying to load, I get a message that says "Wrong Disc". I have tried to put in other dvds, but get the same response. These dvds work in our other dvd...
its probably the laser is misaligned. somtimes you can maually reset it by takeing the disc out and sliding the "eye" toward the center. this will possibly break it, but a misaligned laser is not going to work so you;ve got nothing to lose. put in a disc you know is good, no scratches, and turn it on again.

We put in a disc and it doesn't show a picture, it only plays the sound. We disconnected it for an hour and then restarted it and it did the same thing? No picture at all.

the problem from the flex, screen board or screen.

This is usually common with all these portable DVD players.

It is problem that needs to be fixed. And if your adjust the neck it might show.

I would advice you give it to a repair to fix for you.

Don't know how to charge battery
As far as charging, you are right, it should charge when you keep the unit plugged in. Many portable devices come packaged with a plastic battery protector inserted between the battery and contact terminals on the device. Usually, this is a thin, clear plastic tab that you can simply pull out. Look under the unit to see if you can locate this and remove it.

Battery is low
a) your charger is bad or not making complete contact via cord with the battery in the dvd
b) battery may be bad. not necessarily dead because there's obviously some juice/power.
