Timer
or
water limit switch (water valve float)
...needs replacing (each is a clickable link to your exact part)
The smell is coming from the pump running with no lubrication or coolant (the water in both cases) and heating up.
In most scenarios, since the other cycles are working properly - so is the float - however if it is sticking in the up (water max) position - it may just need cleaning or replacement.
If you find the float free of obstruction and moves easily - your timer is the culprit.

Thank You!! :D
I believe that it's the water valve assembly. Removed it, cleaned it (screen on inlet had some stuff gunked up on there).
Secondly, I would do at this point is verify the power source. Check the power outlet for 120 VAC. Remove the toe panel and check the junction box under the dishwasher for proper wire connection.
If there is nothing wrong then open the fascia panel and check the "on-off" switch and the door latch switch.
Here are the break down diagrams, the parts list and the wiring diagram for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHU4006 UC/06
Let me know know if you need further assistance

How do I remove the water valve and check it? Also, the wiring diagram you refer to is for a different model Bosch dishwasher than mine. Mine is Model SHV4303 built in.
My Bosch built-in in dishwasher model SHV4303 pumps all the water out of the rinse cycle, then continues to run without stopping. It makes a loud noise and there is a smell like a part is hot or wiring is hot. I can reset the dishwasher and it will run right up to that point in the cycle, then it fails again. This has happened intermittently over the last few months.
Thanks for your help. I will check the float. Where is it located???
