The water is pumped out after the rinse cycle then it continues to run and make an unusual noise but nothing happens. The noise is almost a grinding sound. There is also a smell like some part may be hot or the wiring may be hot. I can reset the dishwasher and re-run the cycle up until that same point and it does the same thing again. I have had a repairman out twice in the last six months. The first time he could find nothing wrong because the problem was intermittent and he couldn't see anything wrong. The second time he replaced the detergent dispenser (which was broken) and everything worked fine for a while. Now the problem has started up again.

How do I remove the water valve and check it? Also, the wiring diagram you refer to is for a different model Bosch dishwasher than mine. Mine is Model SHV4303 built in.

  • jpfechner May 04, 2009

My Bosch built-in in dishwasher model SHV4303 pumps all the water out of the rinse cycle, then continues to run without stopping. It makes a loud noise and there is a smell like a part is hot or wiring is hot. I can reset the dishwasher and it will run right up to that point in the cycle, then it fails again. This has happened intermittently over the last few months.

Timer

or

water limit switch (water valve float)

...needs replacing (each is a clickable link to your exact part)

The smell is coming from the pump running with no lubrication or coolant (the water in both cases) and heating up.

In most scenarios, since the other cycles are working properly - so is the float - however if it is sticking in the up (water max) position - it may just need cleaning or replacement.

If you find the float free of obstruction and moves easily - your timer is the culprit.

P.S. The float switch/Valve assembly is removed from the bottom of the washer - it must be removed from its opening and laid on its side.

I believe that it's the water valve assembly. Removed it, cleaned it (screen on inlet had some stuff gunked up on there).

Secondly, I would do at this point is verify the power source. Check the power outlet for 120 VAC. Remove the toe panel and check the junction box under the dishwasher for proper wire connection.

If there is nothing wrong then open the fascia panel and check the "on-off" switch and the door latch switch.

Here are the break down diagrams, the parts list and the wiring diagram for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHU4006 UC/06

Let me know know if you need further assistance
Thanks

What is causing my Kenmore top washer to make a grinding noise before the rinse cycle?

Have you replaced the clutch or spin tube? There is a brake actuator that comes with the clutch kit and if this is broken it can make a very loud grinding or clacking sound.

Take top off, take control panel off, take front off. Now you can get to pump. Check videos from repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com or YouTube.com for how to. Not that hard. Just many steps.

When my kenmore oasis he washing machine starts pumping water into the tub, it makes a high pitched noise. (The pump maybe) It only happens when it it filling, either at the beginning or during rinse...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Darren, you need to get to the pump and check the belt. See if it is slipping or you may have a pulley sticking. It may be the pump itself. More then liekly, it is the pump grinding.

Whirlpool washer model: MBF2254HEW. Plastic agitator makes unusual noise when agitating in wash and rinse cycle. It feels loose and wobbly.

Hi,

It sounds like something has gotten lodged in the water pump. Since the pump is directly driven by the motor, the pump is always turning in the wash & spin cycles. The pump is attached to the motor and turns the entire time the motor is running.
Other possibilities would be the motor or transmission.
However, you need technician's help to access the pump.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further queries.

Loud whirring noise going into rinse cycle. Low

Hi tuck just read your posting. Now on the low whirring noise on the start of the rinse cycle ,Is it when the machine is draining the water or filling with water. If the noise happens when the machine is draining then I think either your pump has something slowing it down or it is faulty. Please look underneath the machine to the front right and you should see a red or black fan .If you do then this is your pump.If you don't see a fan you must have the newer style of pump. Please reply with additional information on the questions and I am sure I can help you rectify this problem

Whirlpool Duet Sport WSW8300 Washer - Thumping noise by extractor pump at the end of wash and rinse cycles for several minutes.

Believe it or not, this is normal. The pump runs until the water is extracted and begins to cavitate as it pumps air. These pumps will make some noise. As long as it is draining properly, and your clothes are coming out pretty dry, I would not replace it. However, if you are experiencing louder than usual noises, you may have something caught in the pump reservoir. You do have to clean the pump occasionally. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385845-checking_drain_pump_in_whirlpool_duet

A new drain pump will run you in the neighborhood of about $70 to $80. You can order them online at searspartsdirect.com. If you've already had two repairmen look at it, replaced the unit once and it did the same thing, AND had the Whirlpool staff tell you this is normal, you may want to consider that there's nothing wrong with your unit. I know its hard to believe that someone would design something this way, but the manufacturers aren't perfect. I've worked on these units numerous times with similar problems and had to either tell the customer that there was nothing wrong with the unit and basically deal with the noise, or replaced the pump at their persistence. I just thought they were throwing their money away on something that probably will not change. I hope this gives you some answers, and hope it will help you in some way.
